Hyundai since the 3000 is just an SL and not a VR4. I think the SL’s were slightly over 200 HP, and front drive.

Resident Mitsu/DSM guy reporting for duty. Here’s my take.
If I’m not mistaken, the base Gen Coupe engine was the 2.0 Turbo. It’s a detuned 4B11, the 4B11 isn’t an engine I love (4G63 or die) but it’s an AMAZING engine with huge potential and it’s reliable. Also the chassis is pretty good too.
The Non Turbo 3K/3S cars are slower than school busses. They look amazing though. Also, no VR4 means mandatory front wheel drive. The VR4 is stellar, although it’s hugely heavy. The 94 and up cars got the Getrag 6 speed and upgraded rear diff. It’s truly in a league of its own. Easy 200MPH car with basic upgrades.
However, working on a 3K/3S is the worst thing in the world. I promise you something right now... you don’t own a 3k/3S without working on it lol. If you’re going to put yourself out there on maintenance like that, but the VR4 or don’t do it at all.

Cool factor - 3000gt. Just due to rarity and oddities. EVen if it is FWD. It’s not a supra, and it never will be, but that’s okay.
Daily driver - genesis. It’s a hyundai from the past 10 years. It’s fine. It might not be some beacon of perfection but it goes, it stops, it’s RWD and many have stick shift. It’s probably cheap and can take some abuse. What else do you want?

the base 3000 is kind of a dog... base on both of these really isn’t a great option.. I’d rather go with a turbo first gen Eclipse.
