Why Do They Keep Calling Me????

In 2012, we purchased a new Infiniti Condominium, AKA QX56, at Infiniti of Raleigh.

About two years later, we sold it to our local Infiniti dealership, Infiniti of Apex, which is an offshoot (as I see it) of the Raleigh store.

So... that’s three years... almost four years ago now.

I get calls averaging about once per week from robocallers about extending the warranty on the damn thing.

I don’t know why our short ownership of this vehicle has resulted in unstoppable calls to extend the warranty long after we sold it, but they’re frequent and maddening. If they wanted to permanently turn me off to Infiniti as a brand, they’ve found a good way to do so.

Anyone ever dealt with and somehow quashed this before?

The robocallers aren’t calling from Infiniti. They’re scammers pulling semi-publicly available vehicle registration data. They’re also not very good at scrubbing sold vehicles from their databases.

Usually these scammers are a little less illegal and scammy than the ones that are straight up fraud trying to say they’re the IRS or Microsoft and whatnot, so if you press the button to talk to a real person and tell them you no longer own the vehicle, that might help.

I’ve tried that a few times. Had a nice chuckle one of those times by opening with a statement that I really wasn’t interested in purchasing an extended warranty for someone else’s vehicle.

I didn’t think it was in fact Infiniti that caused this, but why then do I only get these calls about our old Infiniti? Not about my wife’s ‘09 MB E350; not about my current ‘14 Civic Si; not about my previous ‘07 Civic Si. It’s 100% consistent that they’re calling about the Infiniti.

That pic is so confusing. What mall is that? Where’s the carpool line? Where is the blonde lady driving it while using Facetime? Did the nav system malfunction?

The blonde must have climbed in back to hide after blithely following the nav system wherever it said.

“Down this boat ramp? OK. Who needs a ferry, I’ll just go through here. Up this farm trail? Sure.”

Note: your comment is especially poignant given that my wife is (not a natural) blonde, our QX was 2WD, and it never saw more than perhaps a blade or two of grass in its lifetime.

Sadly your best bet is to use an automatic spam/ scam filtering app like “Hiya” or “Should I Answer”. If you want to go old school you can file FCC reports, but it can be time consuming.

Don’t worry about your newer cars, you’ll be getting calls about those soon enough...

LOL. Those portholes are actually gills for water fording, right?

Honest answer to your OP: Who knows? I still get calls every 6 months from the dealer where we bought our car (in 2014) asking if we’re still looking. They don’t even realize we bought it. I guess they misplaced that giant check from the Credit Union. Are the cops coming to my house?

I guess the venn diagram demographic of “people who are easily scammed” and “people who buy infinitis” is nearly a circle

My wife loved it, as did friends etc.

I hated it. Handled like an apartment block that I was constantly fighting to keep going straight down the road. It was big; it felt quick for something so large. But it was just totally not me.

“The peak of good living” I chuckle every time I say it. Holly springer here. Parents live in apex as of 2 months ago short move from little India just north. They bought and sold a new Infiniti recently but it’s still to resent to know if those calls will come and I think they had theirs delivered from Charlotte. I’ll warn them.

If the dealership can’t help, you’ll have to find out who is actually doing the calling and send them a cease and desist.

do they call specifically about the infiniti or just ‘your cars warranty is up please extend it’ I told them i owned a 1978 Pinto and the guy on the other end goes ‘goddammit’ and hung up on me.

No, it’s very specifically about the Infiniti.

I’d almost be happier with something nonspecific.

I always said if I got one of those I would have my friend’s shop remove that vent (fake?) and weld in a piece to flush it up. The Merc SL fake plastic side vents piss me off too, they think that looks good and we don’t notice it’s just cheap plastic??

Why didn’t you keep the Infiniti, or just get a QX60?

I always got generic robocalls for extended warranties, before i owned a car. oddly they went away. now that I own 3 cars, i dont get any of those calls at all, a robocall is a rare occurance.

also.. I deal with QX56/QX80's all day. freaking huge for the tiny lot at work.

nomorobo . I thought it was a little hinky at first (you forward your number to them, and they screen out the robots), but damned if it doesn’t work.
