The 2016+ Infiniti Q50 3.0t AWD. While I have no intention of getting a new car in 2018 or the early part of 2019, I have been casually shopping. I’ve come to the conclusion I’ll be content with losing a manual to gain some creature comforts. I’ve kept my eye on a TLX SH-AWD and the Q50 for awhile now and would love some Oppo-pinions

I am also casually shopping, but I am not sure if I want to give up Manuel yet.

A guy who worked for me got an Infinity Q60 as a loaner once. Super nice car. So I am also curious at the comments here.

The TLX had that nasty rollaway issue when it first came out. If only you could transplant the TL SH-AWD’s drivetrain into the TLX’s body...

Infinitis have seemed to have a lot of trouble recently. After 2010 or so the quality plummeted.

Infiniti took the G37 platform and somewhat updated it to make the Q50. Then they added the two versions of the 3.0t motor. They come in 300 and 400 hp flavors. They still use the somewhat outdated 7-speed auto that’s not terrible but also not up to the level of better modern automatics. The optional steer-by-wire system is really bad.

Having test driven both, would go for the Q50 3.0T just for the torquey turbo motor which pulls really well from low RPMs. The 9 speed in the TLX has been problematic in the past and I prefer the Infiniti 7 speed ( Disclosure:I drive a G37x) but both are not as good as ZF 8 speeds in BMWs etc.
Both of them have the dual screen infotainment setup that many people hate so that is purely your personal preference. I din’t mind either. Definitely nothing is as bad as Cadillac’s Cue.
Both seem to be quiet , relatively spacious, comfortable and sporty with good power when you ask for it.
Looks are subjective I understand but I simply love the TLX A-Spec in Blue more than the Q50.

Having driven one, they are nice. I really like the Hybrid version as well, though I dont think thats still around. The model with the tried and true 3.7 though is weird to me. Its not bad, but its nothing to brag about either. Its almost as if you can feel the old G37 underneath.

The TLX with SH-AWD is sadly out of my possible price bracket :(

There is the TL SH-AWD, as long as you’re ok with wearing a bag over your head every time you drive it. They had a real shifter, a real parking brake, and (in theory) were available with a manual. But that styling.

Yeah for sure. The 2007ish M35 was a fantastic car that is super reliable.

Good to know the steer-by-wire system is optional. I was under the impression it was standard.

Yeah. After I pay off the TSX I’m thinking of picking up a new Accord 2.0T Sport 6-speed. I’d almost certainly have to buy one new if I want one, unless they kill it after 2019.

I mean, I’d like a CTR, but I’d also like to end my sex drought, so next best thing.
