Kinja'd!!!

I was at the bank Saturday morning, when I came across this brand new Crosstrek with a special surprise inside:

My sister in law bought one recently with a manual. It’s a fun little car. The back seats are not nearly big enough though

The new Crosstreks are actually really nice inside.

I was just talking to a car loving co-worker last week about the Crosstrek. We both agreed that if they gave it a better engine we’d buy one. They just seem meh right now. I do like the improved rear end and taillights

Have they fixed the engine issues that older Crosstreks are known for? I have a friend who has a first-gen and it is on it’s third engine now! :S

I really miss my old 2002 Impreza and have considered a newer Subie as a replacement for the Accent when the time comes, but that has sortof made me wonder...

I test drove one as a formality before purchase, and walked away because the engine was so bad. I know there’s at least one person on oppo with the same story.

My friend has a ‘16. Backseats feel spacious to me, but I suppose that’s because the backseat I have is so small.

The engine is truly awful. 0 to 60 in 30 years.

Compared to a ‘98 Legacy, they’re far more spacious.

The only response to more throttle was just more unpleasant noise

I’m glad they made the 6spd available (over the 5 from last year.) I think there likely would be a market for an “XT” version, but I’m thinking that most of the “no power!” complaints are that it’s simply most folks experience with a CVT. They are different and it is set up to get good mileage (which it does for a jacked up unibody rig.) The suspension is set up loosey goosey too. So you get a “tall” hatch that rides comfortably, is easy to drive, gets decent gas mileage and has a decent awd system. It absolutely is not a performance vehicle in any shape or form. Not sure about the back seat comments - it is much bigger than the Mazda3 and even the Altima from personal experience - though cargo space is a bit tight behind.

Well, it IS a compact. If you need second row space in a subaru, wait for the Ascent.
