Signed up for sitchfix and bombfell. Online clothing services with ”your own personal stylist”. Don’t really have any “nice” clothes, just jeans and band/graphic tees. Figured it was time I look like an adult from time to time. Really curious to see how well this works.

looks like a pretty cool service. How do they go about fitting?

Also, ‘01 S55 with 105k, $8k. What’s the deal with them?

Lol prices seem reasonable for what the clothes are and the service you get. I don’t know. Maybe not. I’ve been wearing old navy jeans and $15 tees forever. I don’t know the first thing about clothes except that I don’t want to put any effort into them myself.

I recently made the switch from too big graphic tees and baggy jeans, to polos with sweaters on top and stuff. I instantly went from unnoticeable to, allegedly, pretty attractive. I’d recommend fleshing out your wardrobe with some thrift shop stuff, once you’ve learned what to look for (brands, colors, fits, layering stuff).

At least a basic sense of fashion is a really good trait to have.

I’m in a position where I really should dress nicer, but I just don’t. My wife throws out all my socks with holes when I’m not looking, as an example. My counterpoint is that I could just put them on upside down and they’d be just as effective.

They work a little bit differently. Stitchfix just wants height, right, body type, and basic info like that. On top of that, Bombfell let’s you enter complete body measurements like a tailor would take, and upload photos of yourself if you want. I haven’t gotten my first orders yet, but I’ll post when I do. You can give feedback on fit and style preferences at any time to improve future orders. It only takes a few minutes to look it over, the websites do a really good job explaining it without requiring you to sign up.

Terrible idea. 01 is still naturally aspirated, and early 220. Barely qualifies as an AMG, then has stupid price premiums on parts. Engine and trans are reliable, but that’s it. Interior isn’t special, they’re not that fast. Frankly I think 8k is way too much. I’d maybe pay 3-4k in good running condition. Probably has ABC, nuff said. I think itwas 02 (ormaybe 03?) When they got the supercharger and huge interior update for the AMG variants.

I got a grown up haircut a year ago. After that I started getting lots of compliments and attention from random ladies. I like my jeans and t-shirt look, but it definitely doesn’t fit every situation. Thrift shop is a great idea! Thanks for that.

Socks with holes are the worst! But I don’t give a shit if my underwear have a little hole or two. The feeling of new socks to me is better than Xmas. But my work boots? Totally fucked

My work boots are now 3 years old and nearly bald. And these are some beefy Dr. Martin’s that had like 2" of rubber when new. But they’re not cheap and I’ve been using Vans for the last year since what I do has changed a little bit and heavy duty boots are no longer necessary (but still occasionally useful).

Anyway, since I can’t stop talking about myself I’ll say that I agree that new socks are amazing.

Wow, it seems like they do a pretty good job! If the clothing is nice that seems like a deal.

That’s a shame, I’m pining for an AMG now. Always had a thing for w220's.

I’ve had Dr Marten’s before and loved them. Right now I’ve got worx, redwing’s “cheap” brand. Super comfortable and had them for more than four years. But the right sole has split in two and is now just a couple floppy pieces of rubber. I definitely don’t need heavy duty boots, but if I wore regular shoes they just wouldn’t stand up to the chemicals or miles and would probably die in under a year.

Looks like they have lots of brands to fit lots of budgets, but nothing appears to be anywhere near Walmart quality.

If you really want a 220 AMG, then look for an 06 S55, maybe 05 if you have to. Those will be your best bet by far. But prices will reflect that.

Work boots were the first major purchase item that taught me a valuable lesson: it’s okay to spend more for a better quality product. Too bad I didn’t adopt that for my taste in vehicles for another few years.

Lol yeah I know what you mean. But I still have a hard time letting that much go for good boots. The store better have a damn good return policy too because they might hurt after a few hours or days which you just can’t figure out in the store sometimes.

Brands such as Polo are always pretty classy, and they can be found at modern second-hand stores or places like Marshall’s for great prices. Also, if you wear jeans, make sure to wear a shoe like Converse or Vans with them; looks much better than running shoes! Those are my tips for a basic start.

Other classy brands include Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, Vineyard Vines, and Brooks Brothers, but the latter two are pricey and hard to find on sale.

I didn’t know stitch fix did guy clothes. Know plenty of girls who use it and are generally happy. Too pricey for me.

I’ve been doing the same thing as part of my ongoing “figure out how to be happy” project. I’ve always worn solid/drab colors and have been making an effort to spruce myself up by buying sweaters and prints and colorful graphic tees. I also finally figured out what pants brand & cut works best for me.

I’m at least feeling better about myself if nothing else.

Thanks! I have a hard time breaking out of my comfort zone in a clothing store. Hopefully someone giving me outfits and saying “wear these!” will help with that.

Huh. I had no idea it was popular for women. I might see the price tags and send it all back. Who knows. But I set the budget requirements to minimum, and I’m not planning on getting more than a few items at a time.

You’re welcome. I love clothes, and though some of my choices in the past have been terrible (polos with sweatpants in 8th grade :/), I love seeing other men wear nice clothes no homo. I’m a bit different in that I only wear colorful stuff, but Polo is definitely one of those brands that looks nice. The colored horse allows for great coordination!

I have been thinking about trying this out, I were 32x34 and those lengths in jeans are never stocked anywhere in the south.

I’m 30x32 which is also extremely difficult to find. Seems like most stores only carry square measurements, or larger waist than inseam. I sometimes havea similar problem with shirts where the sleeves are too short unless the whole shift fits too loosely.

Yes, 2003 was the model year of the kompressor AMG cars, along with the W220 interior and exterior facelift.

Today an early W220 S55 is worth the same as an E55 of the same year, although it cost 50% more when new.

My ex did/does it. She usually would spend $150-$200 per box. It would often depend since they make it so it’s at a discount if you get everything.
