Kinja'd!!!

This is a 1 of 163 sold 2001 Plymouth Prowler Black Tie Edition. Covered in road grime in a Walmart parking lot. At first I thought it had been repainted, because the Black Tie got chrome rims, but they are just caked in brake dust. The front bumper delete helps these so much. All Prowlers should have the goofy front bumper removed.

And since I know you probably clicked through to say “Dat 300ZX Doe” here it is:

Kinja'd!!!

Looked to be an all-original non-turbo. A little wear but in way better shape than most of these things these days.

Dat 300zx tho!

Okay, not as rare as the Prowler, but a client of mine had not one, but TWO HHR SS’s, both red. Also a red Volvo s60 t5. What an intriguing garage

That front bumper has seen some shit. And I hate when the moustaches are body color. Beautiful color though, same color as the one I crashed

I know they’re unpopular, but I like the Prowler. They look like nothing else and the handling is actually pretty excellent. A bumper delete and an engine swap and they’re damn good

Did the HHR SS have the same drive train as the Cobalt SS (turbocharged)?

Oh man. I am not the one to ask about mid 00's American cars. Here’s a snippet from autotrader!

It does look better with the bumper gone. Would love to see what “The Ring Bros”could do with one.

I think they made big mistake not waiting for the 2nd generation 3.5L to be ready when they launched the car. I get that they didn’t want to wait too long from concept to production, but the Prowler is remembered by most people as not having the performance to back up the looks. But starting in 1999 (2nd year for Prowler - came out for 1997 and skipped 1999) when the 2nd gen 3.5L went in it was pretty swift for the day even with the dim witted autoback out back. It did 0-60 in 5.9 which was plenty quick for the day. The contemporary Mustang only made 10 hp more from its 4.6L V8 and was a tick slower to 60. It also gets knocked for being too expensive - I can’t argue too much with it being expensive for the performance but come on nothing else at $40k looked remotely as crazy.

On another note I found this in the closet today. I think you posed something about “Lateralis” in the track listing being a first edition misprint. I guess I always thought the album was Lateralus and the song was Lateralis for some reason.

That sounds like it. If I’m not mistaken, the Cobalt SS came in two different versions (perhaps for different years?) - a supercharged version and a turbocharged version (the better of the two). I quite like the idea of the HHR SS. That said, the forward visibility when sitting at red lights isn’t great because of the short windshield.

I thought the same thing when I first bought the album (I grabbed a copy they day it went on sale) and noticed the two different spellings, but it was posted on the Tool website that it was actually a typo on the first 1-2 million pressings. Subsequent printings do have it spelled Lateralus.

Of course since it’s Tool some fans still theorize it was deliberate anyway.

God I hope not! I’ve had 2 aus-spec ones with the moustache. But I don’t know how it works in America.
