Nevermind all the other crappy women in racing news, this is truly something to get stoked for. Nielsen is the 2017 and 2016 GTD champion, and the 2015 runner-up. Patrick Long is a very successful Porsche factory driver, 2017 Pirelli WC champion, and IIRC, the only North American Porsche factory driver? I was wondering what Nielsen would do after winning back to back championships but not announcing her 2018 plans. Well no wonder. One of the biggest rising stars in sports car racing teaming up with a successful seasoned veteran, like Long? This is going to be the team/line-up to beat this year.

How Christina Nielsen has not earned a Gold rating is beyond me. As far as I can tell she meets all the requirements and certainly has the pace for it.

Pace, talent, wins., TITLES... she really has it all. And at 25. I’m going to step away from the fact she’s a female racing driver for a moment to focus on something that I think gets lost in all of that: she’s an a slow burn. A fierce racer who (other than her sex) doesn’t attract a lot of attention. There’s no doubt she has a burning desire to win and that’s all that matters to her and she’s done it time and time again and without fanfare. The look in her eyes (quote Ministry song here) reminds me of Dan Gurney. It’s the look of a racer and a competitor who sees nothing else but winning and goes out and achieves that. It’s the same look you can in Sebastion Vettel’s eyes or any number of champions. On one hand, I hate how she’s NOT a talking point in the whole discussion of women racing. On the counterpoint.... I LOVE how she’s not that because she’s simply a competitor, pure and simple. No. Not a competitor. A multiple champion. Fuck. Someone put her, Brendan Hartley, and JPM on a team for LeMans. If I had millions in the bank and access to a prototype, that would be my exact team.
