Kinja'd!!!

Free truckload of old Douglas fir. A friend of a friend is doing a commercial renovation, and didn’t want it to go to waste. Some of it is frankly fire wood grade, but there’s some beautiful stuff in there too. I’ll be able to get more too. If only I had more room to store it!

Sand, stain, lay down as a bed liner. Bam. Infinite style points

Hahahaha!

I’m more of a natural finish kind of guy, but I like where your head is at.

You know, I am too 95% of the time. Okay... Maybe a good clear finish than.

Any plans for the wood yet?

Did the severed hand come with it?

I never leave home without a severed hand or three.

Some of it will be used for students projects. Any big boards that are too gnarly for proper wood working, I’m going to save for building a play house for my daughters. I also want to build a cool bar for my basement.

If you could rip it length wise and half the thickness it would make a beautiful rustic floor.

It’s almost always hard to say no to free wood.

It really is. Especially it’s stiff like this that you can’t really even buy anymore.

Yeah, you could. It was flooring in an old car dealership built in the 20’s. The service bays were on top of the showroom, accessed via a car elevator.

Jeez - look how thick those planks are. They don’t make them like they used to!

Yeah, they were not messing around when they milled these planks!
