I haven’t bought it yet as we wait to at least start it before doing the paperwork and all (no voltage to fuel pump but voltage to the fuel pump relay —> need a new fuel pump relay), but I’m taking it! We agreed on the price and it will be my new daily as soon as possible!!
Can’t wait to play with it in the mountains! Clearly not in showroom condition and quite a few things were changed (it used to be tracked a lot and the past owner was mainly looking for lightweirght, so the entire AC system was removed along with the front bumper reinforcement and other minor stuff).
Cool little story, I’m buying it from the actual designer of the Celica ST185 :)

All those mods were done by the owner before the current one... He was the head of the Lancia Delta Integrale Japan Club. He had many Lancia and that was his track day-touge toy... After it became the DD of the current owner and his wife...

It hasn’t been driven for a number of years and engine hasn’t been started for something like 3 or 4 years... It won’t be reliable right away. But getting it running should be simple enough. Hoses aren’t dry, the whole car is really solid with no rust at all... I’ll change the timing belt and that should do the trick... I’ll ease the car in with slow-ish trips for a couple weeks, then it will be time to“stress test” the damn thing like I do with all my cars... Hammering it for hours in the mountains near my place and break everything that has to break there... When it stops breaking, the car is ready! haha

There are no C&C events anywhere near me other than over and hour away and they are mostly irregular....the closest meets here are mostly high school kids with ‘tuned’ Civics painted in matte black or camo with terrible lowering kits and fart can mufflers... :/

Nah the RX7 will have to go... I’ll choose the “bandaid removal” way... Dropping it at auction and hoping for the best. Owning a car here is a mess... You need to prove ownership of a parking spot, they send cops to check it, yearly taxes are high...etc etc etc. And my wife HATES the RX7 lol. She won’t handle another car like that...

Might I recommend changing the timing belt if you haven’t planned on it already. They are somewhat prone to wear are a weak point on the otherwise reliable Lampredi twin cam.

Congrats! Sad to see the RX7 go, but judging from the videos you posted you have had an awesome time with it. I’m sure you will have an awesome time with the Delta too.
Interesting heatshield(?) between the air filter and that reservoir, wonder if it actually sort of works to lower the intake temperatures.

Nooooo idea... The car has been left pretty much untouched by the current owner, so all the mods were coming from the owner before that, who was a Lancia maniac (president of the Lancia Japan Club) and this was his testing plateform haha. He had a few other Lancia but this was the one he was testing stuff with :)

Nope, nothing different... Laws are actually more lenient for cars over 10 year old here, as they are allowed to pollute more... Cars over 13 year old are taxed 10% more. That’s about it.
Lots of urban legends when it comes to owning an old car in Japan :)

Nope... Stock boost on it is around 1bar.... it can apparently take 2 now and it’s got that boost controller switch on the dash asking to be cranked up lol... NOT aimed at reliability for sure :)

The list is long, but mainly because it stinks gas, because I have to get gas every 250km, because the ride is very stiff, because the AC doesn’t work, because it’s old, because the doors are hard to close, because there is no door handle on the passenger door (you just can’t open the car from outside on that side... doors are lighter but RE-Amemiya didn’t think it was necessary to put a door handle on their door...), because back seats are ridiculously small and dangerous to use (half roll cage) because everybody looks at us whenever I drive it and so on and so on and so on :)
