Just cruising the interwebs looking for 914s when I spot this:

Kinja'd!!!

Never knew it was a thing, all yours for $6,300. This angle isn’t bad, in my opinion.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Side profile looks pretty goofy I think mostly because of the rear and proportions.

interesting - never seen one. I don’t dislike that, especially that silver one.

Someone else can photoshop it, but with a glass rear hatch (like a 944) this would look great.

Umm... weren’t these fuel injected?

Hmm. I think I’d much prefer a 944 for the money

The mid 80s were heady times.

yes but a lot of hacks rip them out and carb them, because they only like to idle smoothly at one ambiant temperature.

Look up ‘914 Chalon’ for more info.

Kinja'd!!!

I remember those kits back in the ‘80s and thought they were a great way to make the somewhat frumpy 914 look a little sexier. Nowadays I would prefer a bone stock 914, preferably in olive green, just like my grandfather used to drive.

D-Jetronic, so yeah. But those that couldn’t figure out fuel injection (or couldn’t find a replacement for a dead ECU) usually ripped it out and threw on a pair of Webers.

I had a ‘71 VW Type 3 Squareback that had a big lump in the rear floor to make room for a single Weber conversion. It was unfortunate.

Needs flying buttresses. Nonetheless, I like it.

Thanks. I like the fender flares like on the Chaplin kit but agree on keeping an original front end.

Some 916-style flares might work for the bigger tires as well as keeping it in the original vintage style.
