What’s the logic behind the statement that Jorda is literally “the worst” person to enable women in FIA sports?
I mean, it could’ve been Tamara Ecclestone.
I get it, she’s probably not THE best candidate and asserting right at the start that F1 needs a women’s league is definitely controversial (at least without some data to back it up), but it could’ve been some FIA yes-man’s wife or daughter.

She met the bare minimum requirements to be taken as a serious candidate. Emphasis on bare minimum. Just nominating a woman wouldn’t have worked since they easily could’ve been dismissed as “not a racer” and Jorda has “F1 experience” so it stands to dismiss other drivers such as Simona De Silvestro or Katherine Legge who are hard fighting competitors at top levels of motorsport buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut they aren’t “F1" level drivers while Jorda “is”.
That to me is the insult - that Jorda got a hell of a chance despite being consistently awful because she is a literal model and has never done anything meaningful with her driving career but has everything thrown at her. Say what you will about “pay drivers”. Most of them at least win something on occasion. And the two drivers I mentioned will easily thrash the typical enthusiast in a straight up race using an average single seater or a spec touring car. It’s what happens when driving is kinda your job . But once again, the model that masquerades as a racer gets the position that should go to an honest to god racer.

I think its an issue that has many ways of solving (definitely changing the culture and actually embracing & promoting motorsport across all genders.) and the solution might lie elsewhere, but I’d rather see someone working towards a playing field with women than no one working at all.

She was a Group B rally driver in the 80s. Specifically, she drove the original Quattro rally cars and then the Quattro sports as they evolved. She is literally among the top pantheon of drivers.
