The other day, I saw someone pull a utility trailer. Trailer had LED brake lights. At the red light, the lights activated and parts of the brake light stayed on lit, and other parts of it were sorta spinning. It makes it more attention grabbing. I cannot seem to find anything of sorts on Amazon or google on how to make it.

I want to slap something like this on C5 Corvette. I don’t like simple on/off light. I want it to flicker... spin... do shit to grab attention of a driver behind me.

Anyone have any ideas?

i recently saw a WRX with a lower 3rd brake light that flickered when it first illuminated. it was the first time i noticed a light like that in that location on a WRX but i guess i could just never had noticed either

You could install a brake light flasher , usually people do it on the middle light.

Yeah, flashers exist. and those lights have been on subarus for a while now, but I don’t want a flasher. It might be mistaken for me taking my foot off my brake and bam. rear ended.

Yeah. I just saw that. Problem is third light in the vette is tiny and i have all that real estate in the other 4 lights I can have LEDs spinning/rotatinig.

Other issues is I don’t want a flasher as that can be mistaken for my taking my foot off brakes.

Something like this... but less of a roomba with LEDs and more of a product I can stick into vette to replace stock lights

These don’t do any dancing but they have an outer halo ring that stays on with the tail lights and the inner part comes on with the brakes.

Yeah. Saw those. Thanks. I need dancing!

Audi can make their LED brake lights do all sorts of trickery. Why are we stuck with ON/OFF shenanigans?

You can start with this http://shop.radioflyerinnovations.com/C5-corvette-LED-Halo-Tail-Lights-011.htm

Then modify that for what you want. Although that seems expensive.

I have seen little banks of red LEDs on the backs of motorcycles (usually BMW dual-sports) that are secondary brake/tail lights.

They dance/flicker a little bit, and I couldn’t tell if my eyes are playing tricks on me, there was a voltage issue, or if they were doing that on purpose.

Skene P3 Lights

^^ I’m not posting a video because all the frame rates make them seem like they are flashing while static. They don’t, they flicker a little inside the LED and it’s just enough movement to catch your eye.

Yeah. I have seen them on motorcycles. Some are even on non bmw bikes.. .which makes me think i should be able to buy it some place... just need to find this place

You could try to copy this guy , although his dancing is limited to the turn signals.

That was custom programmed. It said so in the beginning.

What’s the brake light bulb?

I know it’s custom programmed. I want to program it or fiddle with it till I break it or I’m happy with it.

I hate static on/off lights esp brake lights.

Those aren’t LEDs, that’s an OLED panel (think fancy TVs that are out today)

Yeah. to be honest, that’s a bit too fancy. I’m about to mount LED to a fan and have it light and spin when I apply brakes

I have a coworker that builds LED shows using basic strips and arduinos. I can’t think of any other way you could get that functionality; if you’re interested I could chat him up when he gets back from vacation.

I’m gonna try to build it myself if I cannot buy it. Worst case scenario is I fuck it up, but I will probably learn something.

Plus I don’t know how you go about plugging in arduino into brake lights. I don’t know how reliable that all is... i have some learning to do

Arduino may be your best bet. Build your program, flash to board, install as intermediary between switches and lights.

Somehow convert the flasher output to a steady current. Put brakes as input A, left as B, right as C on the Arduino. Then if voltage A play ‘brakes’ output. Etc etc etc.
