How to tell a factory prodrive Forester XT turbo from a standard Forester XT turbo with prodrive bits stuck on?

Kinja'd!!!

I’m going to see this tomorrow with a view to buy, but I need to know what’s what as the seller can only say ‘it goes like a prodrive, but I’m not sure’.

From my limited research the factory prodrive version looks as above, but has an different ECU tune and upgraded exhaust.

Any help you can throw my way would be much appreciated.

Is there some kind of Subaru VIN decoder which can tell you the difference?

There is, but as of yet the seller hasn’t supplied the VIN so I can’t check. I also have no idea what into it gives because of this. The car is just over 2 hours away so I’d rather not make the journey if I can’t find out before the morning.

The forester is one of those car I really like, but would probably never buy. I blame MCM for that.

Looks awesome in black though

Apart from the VIN I doubt there is anything you can use to confirm if it’s prodrive or not before going to see it, unless there is some certification in the owners handbook from Prodrive?

My brother had a Forester and loved it (until he rolled it)

Outch. I really like the look of it, and MCM showed that you could make it a nice sleeper. But over here they are quite pricey, and there’s a limited market, so when the moment comes to sell it, you could spend months trying to sell it because nobody is looking for that. So it’s a great car if you plan on keeping it.
