The roads had some ice on them one time and my old company told me I couldn’t drive home.

They’re already canceling school in the Austin area for tomorrow. Are you fricking kidding me?

Be careful out there. The snow will melt, but it is probably going to freeze sometime after midnight and there will be ice on the roads. If you think people in SA can’t drive in the rain, wait until you see them on the ice. My Outback is happy, at least it got to play in the snow a little:

Austin schools just announced they are closed. It’s a joke. On the other hand, roads are wet, and we’re expecting freezing temps tonight. Might be enough to make overpasses sketchy in the morning, but the ground is too warm for widespread icing conditions. Thing is, we just aren’t equipped to handle any amount of winter weather down here.

I get that, but what you’re describing is not something that would make salt trucks deploy around here. You’re describing the exact conditions I drove to school in just this morning. Having snow tires makes me weird, almost everyone just has all seasons.

I have a final on Saturday morning. I wonder if they’ll cancel it if this continues!

I know. But you have to take into consideration that the slightest amount of wintry precipitation wreaks havoc on our roads, simply because NOBODY knows how to drive in it. And we don’t even have salt trucks, just sand spreaders. I think a two-hour delay is appropriate, because that could then be turned into a cancelation if necessary. But outright canceling, when the snow stopped over two hours ago, is just over reacting.

This is not continuing. The only thing they are worried about is if the water on the ground freezes overnight. I’m pretty sure the snow is over.

Yeah, a delayed start makes sense for you guys. Outright cancellation is frankly hilarious to me.

Snow tires? All Seasons? Pah! I drove to work through the “snow-pocalypse” on pure summer tires! Of course I grew up in DuPage Co, IL, and have no overpasses on my way home in the morning...

You’ll be fine if you’re careful. Of course, you know that already.

Where in Dupage Co? I live in Villa Park.

Now that you say that, I think we’ve talked about this before.
