It is, I customized it for our Texas oppos by using HEB brand eggnog.

It isn’t so bad. Not affecting me at all at least. Bit of smoke in the office on Tuesday, air quality was really bad. But otherwise it’s just been really frigging windy. My Canyon roads aren’t on fire at least so my commute has been twisty and uninterrupted. Sure will be a bumpy landing on a flight!

This is my first time drinking a week and I went to a bar to have a couple beers with a friend. I’m at home having straight bourbon. I’m about to be out and switch to beer.

I don’t drink too many hot drinks, but I love me some mulled wine.
Here’s what I do. Take two lemons and two oranges, zest them, and squeeze all the juices into a pot. Add about a cup or water and a half cup of sugar. Keep it just under a simmer until all the sugar is dissolved.
In a bit of cheese cloth, place 4 whole cardamom pods and six whole cloves. Toss the bag of spices in the pot. Also throw two cinnamon sticks in there. Now, take two bottles (so 1.5 liters total) of a dryer red (I use whatever the liquor store has that’s cheaper. Usually I can get something that’s 3 or 4 dollars) and pour it in. Let the whole mix warm up, stirring so it doesn’t get too hot and boil off the alcohol.
But.... It doesn’t really matter if the alcohol boils off because of this next step. Take about a half cup (or more) of your preferred brandy and pour that shit in there. Stir it up. Serve it with a ladle into a mug, and drink it hot. I like to send it through a funnel with more cheese cloth in it to filter off the citrus zest and any escaped spices. Enjoy! I’ve had no problems bottling up any extra (this makes enough to get 5 or 6 people buzzed and warm, depending on how much brandy you used) and keeping it in the fridge for a week or so, depending on how well the wine you chose keeps.
My other regular drink has two ingredients- Jaeger and ice.

I mean, taking the 405 sucks even when it is open so its always better to take alternative routes. Heading through the canyons if you have time is always a special treat. If you are not looking to go too much out of the way, taking either Topanga or Malibu canyon roads would be good alternatives. It seems to be less windy today but we shall see how the day goes!

Yeah, I should try that - - we’ve been up that way 3-4x/year, and I tend to just follow whatever Google Maps tells me is the quickest. It usually (but not always) thinks that the 405 is quicker than the canyons, but it’s close.
I’ve driven most of the canyon roads that go down between the 101 and PCH at some point, some great drives - - but what I would really like to do is spend more time on Mulholland, without passengers...
Unfortunately, I’ll be in a rental car with my wife and 15 month old in the back, so carving the canyons isn’t on the agenda :)

Well yeah the 405 should still be faster most of the time, especially since roads like Topanga are always crowded as well. That road is nice just because its scenic and less frightening than the highway. Honestly I would rather be in the canyons with a child, its safer than the damn 405 really. So many accidents on there!
Mulholland is every day for me which is nice. That is just my regular commute. I hit the snake twice a day, sometimes more if I turn around and do that section again. I particularly like the Decker road section though, its quite tricky. I really want to explore some of the others though, looking forward to having daylight in the summer.
