Kinja'd!!!

Temperature JUST went above freezing. About damn time. I’m still on light duty waiting for my knee to heal, so my partner gets to be ladder man today while I’m downgraded to human paperweight.

Windows, Christmas lights, vblow off the roof, and gutters. Good thing we brought chisels

27°F when we started. 33°F now. I’ve got a pot roast cooking at home and let me tell you, I’ve never wanted something so badly in my life.

Kinja'd!!!

Fun fact. Below freezing, the ropes holding the ladders are so hard to remove we occasionally have to cut them off. Yay

I put my lights up and cleaned gutters on Sunday in that freezing rain we had. That was some shit and yeah the ropes on my ladders were like steel chords.

If you’re the paper weight and the partners on the ladder. Then who is the camera?

Video>screenshot. That roof was covered in ice, and I like to film potential accidents so I can show new employees what not to do.

Back on the horse. Or at least near the horse.

No thanks. They both suck, but I think I’ll take cold over rain when it comes to lights and gutters.

Sounds like the next few weeks should be dry, sunny and cold. Hooray

Yes. Nice isn’t it? He’s in the process of spraying all the trim black, with white accents. The front grill with TOYOTA in big letters is being replaced by one with the logo.

I have so much respect for you outdoor workers.

I am a soft office worker. I can barely be bothered to walk for coffee outside.

I was recently informed that after sleeping on it wrong, my good friend lost partial movement of her entire arm. Took three months of PT before she fully recovered. Crazy stuff.... I would say pins and needles is better than no feeling, but I’m no doctor!

It makes me wonder what you guys charge for this. We just had our lights put up a handful of days ago by the people that do window cleaning for my in-laws, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with their work.

Also: It’s crazy cold out there. Everything was frozen outside my place and we’re in a heavy fog that doesn’t clear at any time during the day, so everything outside was covered in a pretty good layer of ice this morning.

eh ill agree with you on that.. pins and needles is better than no feeling... still have full movement of said pinky... bloody distracting tho..

(also.. my left arm was out of commision for about 8 weeks not long ago ive been a little twitchy bout me left side since....tore a muscle in my left shoulder attempting to take the bin out round midnight... forgot my backyard has a step down... was a pretty gnarly face plant)

My fingers have randomly been going numb or tingling off and on for about 3 years now. Sometimes they’ll go numb on my left hand and I won’t be able to move them for up to an hour.

So far I haven’t died or had any fingers fall off. Hope that helps.

Gives me a chance to safely test outdoor gear before I go 10,000 ft up a mountain where my life depends on staying warm and dry!

Hot days are a totally different type of hell. I prefer this to work in 105°

I love that heavy fog. I’d be fine if it stayed around my home for all of the winter months.

There are dedicated light hanging companies around here that do an absolutely fantastic job. They bring their own lights, cut them to fit your home, they include surge protectors and timers. Most of them have electricians in the crew to make sure things are done properly. Tell them what you want done and they’ll do it without you needing to watch over them 24/7 to make sure they don’t screw up.

But... They’re very pricey. Worth it for some jobs/people, not for others. I charged $300 for the lights, including removal. The homeowners had everything laying out ready for us, and tested. Here’s what was done
