Time to investigate how Forza 7's time progression system works. I have seen it to morning to day and day to evening, wonder if it can cycle all the way around. Either way I can finally run a full 24 hours at Le Mans without having to leave my console or PC on for days at a time (Hi Project CARS!).

Be wary that several users have reported FM7 force closing with no indications of why when left idle in a long race such as the Sebring 300.

Still better than Project CARS which I could never get to resume if I had put my Xbox to sleep more than 1 hour into a race. Forza 7 seems to do a good job of coming back from sleep unless you sleep it while loading a race.

So. Much. Glare.

Is this an issue on PC or on Xbox?

It’s not even really glare, it’s just the room being somewhat bright.

Glad they have leagues up and running. I’ve been very disappointed with Forza 7. I probably won’t pick it back up till after I get my racing wheel for Christmas.

In the meantime, I am loving F1-2017.

I’m a bit mixed on Forza 7 myself. I like the gameplay and features but career mode is a slog and having cars locked away behind random level rewards and career progression sucks. I love having the ability to do multiclass and timed races in free play (they have been there since at least Forza 3 but they were always locked away in multiplayer lobbies), especially now we can stretch all the way to 24 hours or 1000 laps.

I also love F1 2017. Currently at Spain in Season 2. I do wish I could play it on a wheel though. The controller takes away a lot of precision and costs me time. When I throw together a good lap without scrubbing the snot out of the front tires I am setting a realistic pace for 105-110 difficulty. Fighting the precision of the controller means my race pace ends up accurate at 95-100 difficulty (with my season 2 Mclaren that is shown equal with the Renault and slightly above the Toro Rosso I usually qualify around 6th and finish about 8th on 95 difficulty). I would love to move to a wheel and be able to shut all the assists off and fight it out at 110.

How can you stop a race you’re in the middle of and pick it up later? Just push pause, then exit Forza, then let the XBOX sleep?

Pause it and then sleep the console. Most games are pretty good at resuming when you wake the console.

I, too, have been thoroughly enjoying F12017, and I share your pain on the controller. I tend to play it in spurts where I’ll do four or five races over a weekend or a couple of evenings after work, and then I won’t touch it again for a month. Every time I pick it up again, I think about investing in a wheel set up. Then I look at the race car in my garage and my checking account and come to the conclusion that I had better not. In retrospect, building a good gaming PC and sim rig set up a year ago would’ve been way cheaper than deciding to resurect my old race car and play for real again. How is Project Cars 2 on a controller?

I haven’t played Project CARS 2 at all yet but it is supposedly much better on controller than PCARS 1 was.

I try to do one race weekend every 2 days or so. I would invest in an Xbox One compatible wheel to replace my G27 but I don’t have any space for it in my Dorm so I wouldn’t really use it enough to justify the cost.

I dare you to do 1000 laps on the Nordschleife.

Pretty sure it stays up as long as you don’t boot another game or completely shut down the console.

The locked cars thing pisses me smooth off. All I want to do is drive the S3, like mine, around some fun tracks and I can’t. I still have no idea what unlocks it.

I’ve had no issues whatsoever on PC and am loving the heck out of project cars 2. Yes it’s not possible to resume races over a period of time but I’ve had no issues leaving it idle. I’ve done several 2-3 hour races without issue so far including the dreaded Indy 500.

It’s a well documented issue for xbox. There’s also a myriad of other issues for PC not related to this directly.

PC2 is definitely a lot better than the first game. The default stable/loose setups give you a certain agility with cars at the expense of feedback because of the lack of a wheel. I haven’t had any issues from the wheel standpoint either though my only experience is with a T300RS.

My issue with PC1 on a controller was the unpredictability of the steering. The linearity seemed to change at random and you never knew how much steering you were going to get for a given movement of the thumbstick. I had a lot more fun when I started playing on PC with my G27.

PC1 was a heck of a lot of fun once you learned how much slip you could get away with and when you got the FFB set up right (G27). I’ve been playing PC2 mostly with an XB360 controller and its more than manageable, though obviously not as fine tuned as I was on a wheel. The sticks and triggers are progressive enough to give the car a decent bit of beans.

I struggled with this a bit as well, weighing the cost of real driving ($$ for DE/track days and associated parts) versus a better wheel setup. I eventually skipped a multi-day Lime Rock event (and new brakes) and put the money towards some Fanatec gear and a new video card. While I still don’t play (or track) as much as I should, it’s much more satisfying to head downstairs at 9PM on a rainy night now that I have a proper sim rig. It’s the same slippery slope as the Boxster, however, as evidenced by my recent purchase of inverted Fanatec pedals.
