Kinja'd!!!

I replaced my headliner about a week ago and it looks fantastic! It didn’t take long and cost about 20 bucks to do and I wonder why I waited so long.

I also put all the trim back on the passenger door after removing it in 2013 to replace the window motor...

This is the most complete and nicest the truck has looked since I got it. On the inside at least. I need to take some new shots of it as the patina has changed quite a bit since I got it

Now to figure out why the cruise control quite and its ready for the open road!

I don’t have a headliner, just metal. What year is yours?

Mines an ‘86. It’s also an LE sand fully loaded with power windows/locks, cruise, and everything so it might have only been included on the higher end trims.
Also love that seat! Was that the factory color combo?

I would never be able to get used to the difference in shades between the sun visors and the headliner.

Mine’s as basic as you could get, also an 86 (D100 with the Slant 6). The seat is actually aftermarket, I had it made by a custom vinyl seat company!

The truck is 50 shades of blue anyways so I can live with it. It was bright orange fuzziness before, so this is a massive improvement.

“bright orange fuzziness”

Disgusting. Just as disgusting as a Forester I found on Craigslist with a Subaru emblem literally embossed into the headliner.

Cool! I wish mine were more basic as nothing but cruise worked when I got it. I fixed the power windows, then cruise went out, and I have no clue how the power locks ever worked as there is no switch on the door panel yet the say electric lock on top.

It was disgusting and am ashamed I lived with it for so long for no real reason. It was just the old foam falling off the board from the original headliner otherwise it would have been gone the week I got it.

What adhesive did you use?

Kinja'd!!!

Only problem I had is it sticks very well to itself. One corner has a wrinkle or two as even before applying any pressure it would not come back off to readjust.

Nice. I used some stuff from Autozone (performix maybe?) and it’s pretty garbage. Comes right off when it’s hot out, not very tacky. Annoyingly despite not holding my headliner up the residue is almost impossible to get off my roof so that’ll be fun.

It’s a case of:
“ehh, I’ll get to it tomorrow.”
“ehh, actually, I’ll get to it next week.”
“Screw it, I don’t care enough and I’m not gonna bother with it until it falls apart on me”

That sounds terrible. I looked at countless types of adhesives to try to avoid any issues like that. This one seemed to be the best overall and I’m sure will be a pain to remove if it does start to fall. The test will be next summers heat.

Oh yeah some 3M stuff is pretty grabby, does that stuff go on both sides, wait a minute and then bond the two? I use various ones for work on shows and you better have it right! New headliners always make you feel good though. My old Merc needs the bow that holds in up by the rear window, but then you have to undo all the original stuff in good shape to get to it!

Yep, that’s exactly what I did. Though it took a few mins to spray both sides so it left no room for error when I bonded them, and I of course made an error haha. I agree that it makes the truck feel like its not a complete heap, if only for a brief moment
