Kinja'd!!!

I must say that when stuff starts looking nice you start to question bolting on the janky dirty steering rack that came off the car without painting it...

The suspense to drive it must be killing you now (I’ll see myself out)

But seriously, great to see it coming together! Was the paint dry enough?

Have to agree. I have the control arms pulled off my Elky right now so I can press in new bushings and ball joints. While they’re off I will sandblast and paint them because it’s the right thing to do. But the spindles are still nasty, so how far do I go cleaning them? And what about the frame where the control arms bolt in, and the engine mounts, and oh the engine is a bit manky, too......AAAGH! I’m afraid I’m going to end up rebuilding the whole car just because I needed a control arm bushing and a ball joint. :(

BTW - yours looks WAY nicer than mine. :)

It is a rabbit hole. Fortunately for me my new project usually will only require some morr OD green paint.

I suppose if it’s meant to look utilitarian then that’s probably a bit of a release ;)

Yeah I can see it really snowballing there!

I think the way to do it without going mental and having a car that’s not drivable for 5 years (like I have!) is to clean and paint a part if it comes completely off the car. So, for you the control arms would get repainted but the spindle will wait until you need to do bearings or something or other ;)

Oh, and mine had better look good after 5 years of work! This was it when I got it

Looks better than it was. Rust on damn near every panel, and wouldn’t rev above 3k without snorting back through the carbs...
