Let me guess. He went to the drag strip, set a poor time, noticed his tires knew the dinosaurs, replaced them, went back to the strip, went faster.
Probably has nothing on me though.
I was running these last winter and hadn’t noticed that they were over 12 years old until February. They were just something that my mechanic had thrown on the car to drive it around in Winter 15-16 and then gave to me with the car. Never thought to check the date until I discovered they were rubbish in the snow.

My mum still had 2002 tires on her 2003 Maxima when she got rid of it in August. My sister still had 2006 tires on her 2007 Mazda 6 when she bought it last year. Unfortunately, people just don’t pay attention to how old their tires are.

I used to work for a school district that had me make a 1200 mile round trip, as the only adult with four students in tow, in a clapped-out minivan that had the original 10-year old tires on it. Oh, and the gas card they gave me didn’t work, because the superintendent decided the school wouldn’t pay any vendors from January 1 to July 1 that year (he’s currently under federal indictment for embezzlement and wire fraud).
They expected me to do it again the next year with the original now 11-year old tires. Since I had already accepted a job at another district, I refused to take them unless they put new tires on the vans. They put new tires on one of the vans for me. The AC in that van shat the bed on that trip, in Kansas City in the summer. I’m so glad I don’t work there anymore. They still have those vans, and I bet they still have those same tires on them. Those vans are 19 years old now.
