If only they had made them a little roomier on the inside. Pretty sure I’d have bought one by now.

How/why they managed to make the interior smaller than a miata I’ll never understand.

Kinja'd!!!

A couple hundred quid for import cost and a bit more for some bribes and a way you go. Plus if anyone asks about the RHD just say “because JDM”, I’m sure the government will understand and won’t cube it and even if they do we have loads more.

Fits like a glove! If you wore a glove two sizes too small lol. Being used to my NB, it is hilarious that the first time I sat in a FRS I thought it was too big. That it was a HUGGGGE car. My first description was that this thing was a minivan. Kind of what I imagined driving a Mustang would feel like in comparison. But really Miatas are just that small. And yet there is smaller!

Kinja'd!!!

I bet older safety standards though mean both cars have similar interior space.

Do it! I always have thought the NB was far superior to the NA, hence why I bought an NB lol. Its really the same car but just better looking, the headlights actually work, and it feels faster. Plus you can fit wider wheels without chopping the fenders. But really, NB with a hard top is the sex. Then it all just makes sense.

I look forward to fixing the paint on mine eventually, then I can have a good looking NB finally.

What kind of engine would you swap in?

Look up the lava orange mazdaspeed miata. Wait no, don’t. I want one and if you get one that’s one less candidate for me!

LSx...

Maybe a 5.0, for the fender badges if nothing else...

...or a 3 rotor.

Everyone looks at me wierd when I call my subaru outback a massive vehicle. They don’t get it like we do man...

I’m loving the LSX swaps that are gaining popularity. Fairly advanced v6 with tons of potential, and they can be found cheap if one blows.

S2k engine would be cool.... But that’s a TON of work to swap a motor when you’re getting zero tourqe and very little extra power. If I wanted a higher redline I could build the stock head for 1/10 the price...

Or rotory because awesomeness

I’m guessing it can clear 225's? I wish I could drive all gens back to back, stock. At this point my car is no longer a good representation of anNA for comparison purposes haha

Don’t worry, my dream Miatas are still a yellow NA in perfect condition with a sleeper setup, and an NB like the one pictured.

That Mazdaspeed is gorgeous though...

Haha yeah exactly. An Outback is literally a van! Thats why its crazy to me that my STi is a “compact”. I am like what?? It is my giant practical car. I even was able to fit a box from the mail in the trunk! It even can fit 5 whole people without the use of a blender/axe

Its a shame that every comparison of the generations that I have seen always seems to put the NB as dead last. But they generally use an NB1 which I agree really is last. Its not any faster than an NA8, the headlights dont work any better (arguably worse than candle light), and I love the little visual differences between NB1 and NB2.

I think I truly did enjoy driving the ND more when I drove that back to back with my car. It felt identical in handling but was just a ton faster. I couldnt get past the electric steering but I think I could get used to it since it didnt bother me on the course, just when moving around below 5mph. I did autocross an NA once and it just felt SLOW. I did end up getting a better time because of the tires (both cars on stock suspension) but it just felt SLOW AS HELL any time I used the gas pedal. Ive never driven an NC, but reviews do not make me interested and they look like monster trucks.

I feel like the 1.6 NA (or NC) should be last. But likewise, I haven’t driven an NC either! I too was amazed at how fast the ND felt when I did a few hotlaps and slaloms with it. I don’t know if it was ACTUALLY fast... But it certainly felt like it was.

Oh no it definitely is fast! I have seen plenty of NDs get close to winning FTD at autocrosses in street class! Yeah they were running RE71R tires but otherwise stock CStreet Miatas. Not sure if they had front sway bars since those are allowed, but either way it was crazy seeing them not just win PAX but beating lotuses and go karts and other fast stuff in raw time! I imagine that ND had a really good driver too but it looked insane how much body roll there was and yet they won handily.
