Kinja'd!!!

The GMT800 generation Yukon is the best-looking large SUV of the early 2000s, and moreso when lowered than when stock height or lifted.

Not my bag — the prior generation’s boxiness was Peak GMT. The following generation was also pretty sweet.

Maybe this bodystyle just holds too many negative frat boy memories for me, though. The excess plastic cladding didn’t help.

I’m gonna go ahead and agree with you... I loved how my ‘01 looked with wheels from the later Sierra/Tahoe, etc. I wish I could have kept that thing in a barn somewhere. I could use it again, now that I have an actual family.

Someone near me has a lowered black Denali with a black grille - the Denali grille is a bit much. It’s also on the GMT900 Denali wheels like this:

So the chrome is not obnoxious, even though it’s got plenty.

I think I’d prefer it with non-black wheels and maybe the chrome mesh of the grille in a different design and/or color. But overall I like it!

Yukon, yes. The newer, taller headlights on the Yukon just do not look right.

IMO, the Tahoe has always been the better looking of the two, even in this generation. I personally feel the GMT900 is the best GM pickup/SUV generation, but I may be biased because I have an ‘11 Sierra.

I go back and forth over the GMT900 all the time. Some days it looks like a clean and simple design that reminds me of the GMT400 gen. Other days, it just looks chunky and bloated to me.

Nah, this is the best-looking large SUV of the early 2000s. but GMT800s do look good. I’m particularly fond of the Suburban 2500s of that gen.

I like the clean look. No unnecessary lines, bumps, or curves for the most part. Some areas are chunky, like the bed rails, but all trucks are like that now.

I also feel GM trucks should have stacked headlights and square wheel arches (which started in the 50s, dammit! It’s heritage!).

GMT800 is always the answer...Seriously, they’re the last trucks that didn’t try to look like 18 wheelers. Would love a lightly lowered (2/4) Yukon Denali as the new Dad-mobile.

The one I saw this morning had a black grille with standard red letters, and these wheels:

Thanks! Yeah I got compliments on them at the time, they looked so much better than the stock wheels on that thing.

I remember at the time, ebay was awash with tire shops selling stock wheels with stock tires, from people who drove their new ‘07 Tahoe to the local wheels shop, slapping on a set of chrome 22" spinners or something like that, probably offering the customer $200 for their old set or something. Then they sold them on ebay for $800 - still a good deal for me, because it included shipping! I sold my old set with mediocre tires for $200 on craigslist; net $600 for new wheels and tires, delivered to my door, no less.

I hate the 900 interior. It’s that mid 2000s plastic-y ness that sucks on almost every car of that era. The 800s still had some 90s in it which higher quality, higher gloss, harder plastics.. just my opinion.

May be biased because I have an ‘05 Silverado.

Thats the next step on mine (Run GMC pictured) its an 02 with the 4l60 and 4.3 but an NV3500 and 5.3/4.8 will be swapped in sometime over the next year. I’ve got too many projects going on but I’m never getting rid of this truck...its sentimental

I’ve got the stock round hole steelies on my ‘06 Sierra, which I like, but I’ve nearly pulled the trigger on these off of CL a few times.

Kinja'd!!! "functionoverfashion" (functionoverfashion)
12/04/2017 at 13:08, STARS: 0

The round-hole steelies aren’t bad; better than the bulbous chrome things that came with my “Yukon XL” which I refused to call anything other than a suburban, haha.

I have seen those 6-spoke wheels on so many other GM trucks, but around here they don’t seem to be holding up to the salt very well... lots of pitting/corrosion.

Kinja'd!!! "shop-teacher" (shop-teacher)
12/04/2017 at 13:33, STARS: 0

I like the steelies. I actually have my stock ones with the chrome shell that I use in the summer, and a set of painted ones for my winter tires. I really like the new steelies with the triangular holes.

Funny you mentioned the salt corrosion. The last set I nearly pulled the trigger on, which was only $500 with a decent set of tires on them, had a lot of salt corrosion. That’s what kept me from buying them. I’m in Chicagoland, so salt is always a menace here too.
