Kinja'd!!!

I’m planning to get a cargo liner for my Volt and thought I’d see what folks here have. I’m mainly looking at the exact fit models like Weathertech and Husky Liner.

I’d like to get something that things won’t really slide around on. Also, at times I get muddy/dirty enough at work that I change before heading home and would like to keep the floor clean.

I have Husky Liner floor mats, but I have noticed they can get a bit slippery when they’re wet. I’ve also seen good deals on GM mats for the Volt, but they don’t fill the whole cargo area.

Anyone here have any opinions between husky liner versus Weathertech or maybe a different manufacturer I should consider?

I have weathertech floor liners in my car and had the cargo liner for the back of our Grand Cherokee.

Pros:

They fit great. They will hold a ton of debris (wet and dry). They’re made of high quality materials that are durable and clean up well

Cons:

They’re slippery. Stuff in the cargo area will slide around. Without the carpet to absorb the sound, it will be louder inside the cabin. Specific to the cargo mat, I found it a bit annoying when I wanted to load larger items that necessitated the seats be folded flat. The cargo liner is a big tray that’s a couple inches deep. So the forward edge interferes with cargo that would transition to the area where the seat is folded down. I would just take out the mat, but that means you’ve go to have a place to keep a large cargo mat. Also, I have a large dog and he hated riding in the back when the mat was installed because he just couldn’t get any grip.

I keep buying the floor liners because I live in an area that has slushy shitty snow and it’s the only thing I can do to keep from ruining the carpets every winter. I probably wouldn’t buy the cargo liner, unless I was regularly transporting materials that leave a lot of debris. I found it to be more of a hassle than it was worth, in my case.

Thank you very much for all the information. I was really hopeful that maybe Weathertech mats were made from a material that was less slippery than my Husky Liner mats.

I’m going to definitely get something simply because my job occasionally has me in wet, muddy holes fixing water lines, and I need to get that filthy gear home after I change. I may go with the Chevy mat though since I know it’s less slippery and doesn’t have the lip so it wouldn’t interfere with loading items that require folding the seats either.

Checked out cocomats.com? Jay Leno uses cocomats.

I’ve never heard of them, but I’ll take a look.

I’m a big fan of the Volt. I’ve never had fitted liners so I can’t really add much. My friend had weathertechs and is going to try husky liners next. The weathertechs deformed a bit over time

Used to be what you put in your Porsche or Benz back in the 70s & 80s before factory floor mats were a thing. You could even option them as an accessory at the dealer back then. Cool patterns, high quality, different materials for different uses, etc. They’ll send you a swatch to make sure you like it and the color matches and everything.

It looks like fitted mats are out since apparently Weathertech is just as slick of a material as the Husky Liners. Those are the only two that make a true exact fit for the Volt. I’m probably going to go with the mat from Chevy. My understanding is it’s not as slick but does leave an inch gap uncovered around the perimeter.

Ive had Husky Liner floor mats for about a year and a half and so far no issues with them deforming.
