After going through all theeffort of getting it in place I’ve discovered that one of the bolt holes for the new alternator has this brass(?) sleeve in it that prevents one of the bolts from going through. How do I get it out?
I don’t have access to a press, and a bolt thin enough to pass through is too small for the thread on the other side.

Use a 1/4” extension (the drive side) and a big ass hammer.

Do you have a vise?
If so:
One socket large enough to match the cast housing.
One socket large enough to match the size of the brass piece and small enough to pass into the housing.
Put it together in the vise so when you tighten it the smaller socket will push the brass piece through into the larger socket.

A bolt thin enough to fit through the sleeve is too thin to grab the threads in the bracket. There’s no nut, it screws into a threaded hole. I have to use the stock bolt, thus the sleeve needs to come out.

Drill it? No wait, that might be a steel sleeve. You’d probably just end up chowdering up the aluminum around it. You’re better off forcing it out.

You may also be able to use the sockets and beat it out with a hammer. Vice is better though.
