Since finals week is over for me, I have spent most of my free time scouring Mercado libre for cars, and I came across this monster:

Yeah...
The ad claims it’s got 7,400 miles despite being a 2016 car, meaning that it must be less than 2 years old.
But I understand if you can put 10,000 miles on a car if you drive it daily, but this crap? how can you daily this shit? its so tall I doubt it fits most multi level parking lots?
Now, maybe the owner got confused and wanted the add to put 740miles, which would honestly make more sense.

But really, it’s just a richbro truck. Mercedes sold almost 4k G Classes in the US last year, and what’s another $100k to have it lifted on portal axles so you can look even farther down your nose at the proles driving regular G Classes?

I don’t know if a dealership in Mexico could afford to have such a car as a demo or a loaner (even in Zapopan which is sort of like the Beverly Hills of Guadalajara)
G-classes are also common in the fancier places of Mexico (think rich neighborhoods of Cancun, Guadalajara, or Monterrey, so on)
I just can’t see someone dailying that version of the truck! the normal G-wagons are already excessive and the people that daily them tend to bulletproof them and run around with private security (it’s so ubiquitous its attained the name “la camioneta de los narcos” or the drug trafickers’s SUV because they are expensive as shit)

There’s a guy that dailies one of these in the Phoenix metro area. It’s in that chartreuse color. I see him every other week driving it around in traffic. There’s another one I’ve seen parked in student parking at ASU.

Although the lifted G Class probably rides a lot nicer than the 2 door Wrangler I daily with two carseats in the back.

Why not? It’s not that much worse than a regular G Class to live with (getting in might be a little harder) and if you have the money for it (and nobody buying this even notices or cares about the price) why wouldn’t you opt for the big one? I wouldn’t buy a G Wagon but if I did this would be the one I’d buy.

Because it sticks out like a sore thumb in Mexican traffic.
Its also like 2m wide! which isn’t a lot by modern standards, but measuring that mofo inside a parking lot must be a royal pain!
it just seems quite unpractical, and also, not a car that belongs to anyone that can only have one car; this guy probably has five other luxury cars that make more sense.
Additionally, for as fancy as Zapopan is, I wouldn’t believe someone driving a car like that every day, you see, petty crime in Mexico is quite common, and even in those fancy bubbles of wealth its inescapable.
