Love those 550s. Something about growing up with them being the big bad V12. And NFS Hot Pursuit 2 and Bad Boys. Just love the idea of a big, manual, front-engined cruiser.

If I had the money I’d get one and road trip it as often as I could.

I’d love to have one too! I feel like these have some classical elegance that the F12 and the FF don’t have and that V12 sounds ridiculous.

Came with a manual box! Oh yes! perfect Ferrari!

The SuperAmerica’s roof is also sexy as fuck, but that one is hitting half a million dollars lately.

Shame they still generally hover around six digits.

The SuperAmerica is my favourite. I’d probably get a 575 over a 550 if I could, and the SA would be the pick of the bunch. God I love that roof.

Here are some prices for me. Not cheap.

I doubt I could get a used one in Mexico even if I paid millions for it

However, up in europe some 575 are slowly falling down to 5 digits, many 550 have already!

So don’t lose hope! Someday we’ll be able to afford one!( if not the maintenance)

Depends when they hit the bottom of the curve ;) Maybe they’re already there. They’re one of the more “analogue” Ferraris, with a proper 6-speed manual, and with classical un-fussy styling. Those are 3 things you can’t get in a modern Fez. It can’t be long before they’re going up instead of down:(

Its hard to judge, because the testarossa that came before it is quite ubiquitous and the 599 had so many special editions that finding one losing value is hard.

the 550 and the 575 seem like the middle child!

But I doubt it will appreciate (the 550 at least) because it wasn’t the last manual, nor the last or first v12. To headline-reading collectors its more of a “meh” ferrari.

If you could settle for a 456, you might actually get a bargain and a couple more seats!

Good points all. Maybe that just means they won’t appreciate as fast . But given that the 575 is pretty much just a better 550, as well as the 599, there’s good reason to believe they shouldn’t go up too badly.

I like the 456, I really do. And the 612. They seem to be the black sheep really, and you could argue the 612 wasn’t even replaced since the FF is such a different formula. They’re unloved! Should be easy to pick one up.

Actually for the last few years, the 550 has been appreciating in value. 5 years ago they could be had for well under $90k all day long; now they’re selling for over $150k. The 575, if equipped with a manual, is usually going for closer to $200k now.
