I am! Well, more specifically: my girlfriend and I decided we should go on a much needed vacation for our upcoming 8th year anniversary on the last week of January. Thoughts bounced between staying domestic for our trip, but a desire to get away from the coldness of winter in Toronto pushed us to look south.
My girlfriend really wanted to go to Disney World, and I was initially hesitant, until I realized that the 24hrs of Daytona is on the same weekend we were planning to arrive. So, we’ll be flying from Toronto to Orlando to enjoy the race and lots of theme park shenanigans too.
We’ll be at the race (with race passes and garage passes) on Saturday and Sunday. Very excited as this is really a once-in-a lifetime experience, especially for an IMSA fan like myself.
If any of you Oppos and Jaloppos are going, hopefully I’ll see you there!

I’m thinking about going! No one else wants to go with me but a cousin will be working the race so it would really be a cool opportunity. I’m just so tired of flying everywhere.

That’s fair. For us, the flight is much more reasonable than driving (given the distance), and costs less to boot. Would totally drive if it made sense.
I’ve heard its awesome; if you can do it, I’d definitely go!

1) Have you gone before?
2) Did you get the garage passes?
3) If so, are they worth it?
I have gone to a few races, including Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, but they just have one general ticket for that event. I plan on getting the tickets that include the infield, but not sure if the garage access is worth it.

Yes, I’ve gone before. Yes, I found the garage passes worth it. You can be down in a garage pit while they’re working during the race, which is really cool. The last time I went, I skipped the Thursday, and was there Fri-Sun. That will most likely be what I do this year as well.

Oh, there’s no way in hell I could drive from here. I’m just really, really tired of going places. I actually transferred out of a travel role for work in july-ish but now I’m stuck flying to corporate every couple months, which always seem to be back to back with trips I’ve already planned. I feel like I’ve been jet-lagged since October. The very thought of a 24-hour race is exhausting...but I really, really want to go.

1) Nope, first time
2) Yes I did.
3) I’m thinking since it may be a once in a lifetime thing, I may as well get the whole experience the first time.
I’ve heard from people that have gone that said the garage access is fantastic, and well worth it for the weekend.
