Got that almost 20 year old recall for the ignition switch done. Also, I’m giving their waiting room a 2/10. The only magazines they had were car and driver, BUT IT WAS ONLY THE ACCORD REVIEW! NOTHING ELSE! and some oil and gas magazines, we’re in San Antonio you chuckle heads, not Houston! Get your shit together.

In other stealership news. They wan’t $50 to check my SRS light. Come on, I highly doubt that takes anymore time than checking a CEL that parts stores do for free. Although they did a TSB on the idle air valve for free. So there’s that.

You could probably buy an srs reset tool of your own for less than that.

Generic OBDII readers go for about $20, plus another $4 or so for the app, if you go with a paid one. That’ll do like... 90% of what you need.

Manufacturer specific ones (which you may need for certain things) are in the $100 to $180 range, but also well worth it.

I still need to get around to completing my power steering recall before it sets itself on fire.

Idk if a generic OBDII reader would read the SRS though. The scans at AutoZone and such don’t pick it up. And I don’t wanna spend a lot of money on a Honda specific one since idk what my next car will be and I don’t plan on keeping this one, but for a few years.

Gotcha. Good point. One of the kinja deals ones implied it had software for a bunch of different manufacturers. I’d have bought it to see, but I’d just bought the specific one for my LR. Most of them you seem to be able to add additional manufacturer’s for a fee (the iCarSoft one I have it is $45ish per)

EDIT: Found it .

Certain Honda’s you can jump a hidden plug in the dash and the seatbelt light flashes a pattern that can be decoded with websites online.

Can also be used to clear the lights. I used it find the issue with a seatbelt on a 08 Civic that war written off and rebuilt. The locking portion of the belt has gone off in an accident and it was hard to tell so I confirmed it with the light method and checking resistance over the belt.

Yep, I just did that. Unfortunately it’s not the buckles. It’s an internal SRS failure and a open in the driver airbag :(
