Got an alignment done on my old ‘93 F150 and I’m pretty sure the manager called my truck a parts truck. About 20min after I got there I hear the manager walk in and say to one of the other guys, “This is three days in a row we’ve had to do a parts truck.” Since mine was the only truck I saw while I was there, I assume he meant mine.

It hurts oppo...man it hurts. I know she’s not pretty, but she’s a solid runner and I’ve seen much much worse around here in the rust belt.

Post square bodies and OBS Fords to make me feel better.

I think he might have meant that there was a delivery truck coming that had parts on it that they would have to unload and take care of.

I miss my dad’s ‘78 GMC pickup, sadly, I don’t know if a picture exists of it. Looked a lot like this:

That’s cold blooded!

Here are some terrible pictures a Squarebody I spotted at lunch. My dad’s ‘79 K10 that he had when I was a kid, was this same lovely blue.

Parts truck? Meaning a parts runner, or ‘should be parted out’? That’s BS - here’s one that’s got rust and dents but is still a good truck.

That street rod is pretty sharp. I want to get either a square body suburban or regular cab shot bed dually

dont let the “parts truck” talk get you down. just kindly mention that you would rather drive your old reliable truck, than the soul-less disposable garbage that automakers are selling these days. your parts truck will still be running long after these new cars fold up shop.....

1983 Frankenstein’d F150/250/350 we’re restoring as a shop truck.

Couldn’t get a picture due to bad lighting, but my painter drives a 1993 F150 longbed, 300 6 cyl, 4wd, crank windows, ladder rack, vinyl floor mat. It’s a work truck, but it’s clean as a pin, barely 100k miles, and I’m first in line to buy it if he ever lets it go.

I had to get a state inspection done on my car a few years back. Went to a place by some folks reccomendation and after trying to tell me a torn tierod boot meant the whole thing needed replacement, they called my car old and rusty to my face.

That place wasnt there a year later.

Ok what’s Frankenstein’s story? F350 axles for sure...what else?

Also your painter’s truck is pretty similar to mine. ‘93 F150, 300 6 cyl, 4wd, crank windows, vinyl floor...though I have the extended cab with the 7 foot bed and way more miles (230k+). It’s also a 5-speed with the tranny out of an F250.

The last three winters have not been easy on it. The wheel wells are starting to rust through and the cab corners aren’t so hot anymore. Here’s a recent picture of it

its a dead simple one ton, that i use around the house. small block, with a truck 4 speed, and that auto crane. i use it when i need to pull an engine, or drop one in. makes it SO much easier. the too storage on it is spectacular. i got it from one of my good friends, who got it from an estate sale, as a haul-off i give $450 for it 8 years ago. best money that i had spent in a while. the only straight panel on it is the roof, and thats just because i havent gotten up there to look at it close......

when you finally get a good yard truck, treat it like a valued tool, and dont turn loose of it.....

God that would have to be terrifying at highway speed. You’d have to modify it though since I believe most tugs are designed with the gearing to have a max speed of 30mph or less

it makes cab swaps a breeze, and i live on a pile of rocks, that makes moving an engine hoist, or stand an absolute nightmare. it was THE answer to a lot of problems that i had with working on junk at the house....

the crane itself doesnt have real thick cable on it, but i use it when i need to lift cars off of thier engine cradles, or when i am cutting a differential out of a car. you just have to be careful to center up the hook into the middle of the truck, so that it wont try to turn it over. just have to make sure that you use GOOD chains, and are bridling off of secure points.

poor truck has more than paid for itself in the pain and frustration it has saved me. and it has paper to it.....

I’m not 100% positive (my buddy’s project, I’m just busting knuckles on it with him), but the frame, axles and suspension are 83 F350, engine and trans are 85 F250, and the cab/doors/front sheetmetal is 85 F150 & F250 (we cannibalized a couple trucks to get rust free stuff), with the ‘83 F350 dash/door panels/interior.

My Land Rover is made out of a minimum of five other Land Rovers. My Ranchero (arguably a truck) is made out of a vehicle and miscellaneous parts from some nine or ten different type donors minimum, new parts for a half-dozen more and two tractors, and used parts from a jet ski, two motorcycles, and more.
