I am looking forward to some Luke action, I was always Luke when we played in the 80's. I was blond so... I liked the last film, it was a good, modern SW movie. I count the Force Awakens as an intro film, since so many people watching it are young and maybe don’t have the connection those of us who saw them originally do. I just hope they do a good job, the prequels were so bad I don’t admit they exist, I even tried to watch that Phantom Edit some film student made of all three films into one and it was still to awful to watch. It breaks my heart to hear people grew up on that shit!

Episode Seven. Why you may ask?
Lonely orphan living on desert planet. Bad guy wearing a helmet. . Meeting Han Colo. Space Cantina. Planet sized death ray. Shield generator. Flying through a hole to the weak spot. Death of the wise, old teacher figure literally disappearing without a body. Tell me, which star wars movie did I just describe?
Also, one lighsaber wasn’t scary enough. so they gave darth maul 2. that wasn’t scary enough, so they gave kylo ren 3 for some reason. I am waiting for snoke or whoever to have a giant lightsaber death wheel like naruto or something

I know it was a bit derivative, but they had a lot of expectations to live up to, and as many people were disappointed that it’s wasnt all, there would have been just as many people disappointed if it had been all new.
Also BB8 amazing. Remember when Jar Jar came along to be the comic relief character and it was horrible? Well here’s a comic relief character we all actually love.

My problem is that they had the entire extended universe to draw from, and they just rehashed the first 3 movies.
also it wasn’t a Knights of the Old Republic movie, which I would have been fine with.

It’s pretty bad, Jar Jar and roger roger droids, Anakin is awful. I think Red Letter does the best explanation and highlights things I didn’t give much thought to, but should have!

I get why they made it non-cannon, but what I am saying is they could have utilized or even ripped off any of the great stories that have been written and nobody could really complain since they haven’t made it into a movie yet.

I felt the same. The whole time was just an underwhelming experience of dejavu. If you haven’t seen Rogue One go for it. Not a huge Star Wars fan but it was actually a damn good movie.

I’ve seen The Last Picture Show, and it’s kind of weird. It was a long time ago, but I think I remember it having an almost David Lynch vibe to it. And Cybill Shepherd is topless at one point.
