8c is borderline t-shirt weather.

I don’t think these people have ever felt anything under 0 degrees. I just find it cute that they care so much.

I don’t think most of America can laugh at you.

In most places if the local government said to cover your heads, mouths and noses with scarves, a sizable portion of the population would start ranting about how Sharia law was taking over.

OK, fine. I’ll put the convertible top up, I guess - but I’m still wearing shorts.

Hey now - just *thinking* about the 8C makes me aroused, and I’m at work right now, so stop it!

Was in Ireland one time in Spring, and they were warning about heat as it was going to be 22C.

Traveling for work one winter it was -20°C when our plane left Detroit. Landing in Leon, GTO it was about 10°C. We were all enjoying the pleasant temperature, but the baggage handler was bundled up in a one piece snow suit with a scarf and hat on, so the only thing exposed was his eyes. Then we got into the car and the driver had the heat cranked up and was wearing a sweater. We were all sweating like crazy and ditching jackets and sweaters as fast as we could.

Do you fly cargo jets?

I don’t quite imagine a passenger flight from Detroit to Leon Guanajuato....

I was in the auto industry at the time. We did have a connection in Houston, it wasn’t a non-stop flight.

Oh, nice! GM is near Leon.

How odd that there were direct flights, its a tiny airport!

Did you enjoy the Mexican lowlands?

Our plant was in Celaya, so about halfway between Leon and Mexico City, but it was easier to fly into Leon. We would fly from Detroit to Houston, then get in a smaller plane for the flight from Houston to Leon.

There is a pretty big auto industry in Celaya and I think about 500,000 people living in and around Celaya. It was always a busy trip and we didn’t see much outside of the plants and hotel. There were some excellent restaurants in town and we always ate really well.

Oh yes! Food in Mexico is so good!

I hope you can visit Mexico City sometime, we have really great restaurants!

About the car industry though, yeah, its huge here. Might as well call the Mexican valley the new rust belt! Its actually quite frightening how many jobs depend on the car industry, but exciting at the same time; being an engineer here can open up many doors!
