Do they read open letters (like postcards) in front of the whole platoon? Because my sister is going to basic for the Air Force soon. And I wanna go watch The Last Jedi and then write spoilers on a post card and send it her so it gets read to the whole platoon.
Although I’ll wait like week or two so I don’t spoil it for the DS or whatever the Air Force calls them.

Depends on the T.I. I had some that did, some that didn’t. Generally, post cards were read aloud though. Packages, envelopes that felt like they had pictures/cards, those would most likely be opened. Anything that might get a laugh. There’s too much mail to read everything, though.

It’s disgusting. I got 60 seconds with a pay phone. It took me 50 of those seconds to dial in the phone card and my parents’ phone number. Meanwhile, the TI was screaming at me to hurry up the entire time. My cell was locked in one closet and the battery was removed, placed in an envelope, and locked in another closet. TIs aren’t even allowed to curse anymore... Their job is to prepare 18 year old kids fresh out of their mom’s house for war. They’re preparing to go into a country filled with people who hate them and want them dead simply because they’re Americans— to have rockets and mortars lobed at them and small arms fired at them, and they can’t be bothered to give up their cell phones and they can’t handle a few f-bombs? Then I wonder why Airman Snuffy can’t put down his iPhone long enough to learn his job and then I get lectured by my superiors about sensitivity when finally lose my shit on them. I’ll take the fat kids over this nonsense.

I remember a few years ago they changed the PT standards. Is it still possible that they don’t have to pass their first PT test until they leave their first duty station?

I’ve heard conflicting information about the stress cards.
The PT thing is a new one... Never heard that. The air force is quite opposite on that actually... PT tests are every 6 months of you score <90, annual if you’re 90+, 1 fail within 3 years gets you an LOC, 2 gets you an LOR/UIF and referral EPR, 3 gets you reduced rank and denied reenlistment.
