It’s so ugly it’s hard to not love it. The price puts it close to Gambler 500 territory too.

The seller is pretty optimistic about it’s condition. Me? Not so much. There are a few things missing that would push this into a prepped or modified class according to the rules (if I read them right). I’m not sure I want that as a first timer.
Can’t hurt to look. Right? There’s no hurry just yet.

With the gutted interior, you would be bumped out of the stock class. Personally I wouldn’t worry about that, the point is to have fun.
Nobody would fault you for gambling that either. “$500 is a goal, not a rule.” Remember that GMC mobile home hauler with the 2-stroke diesel from this year’s Gambler? He paid $2200 for it. Nobody called BS, we all thought it was cool as hell.

Be sure to check the battery tray thoroughly, that’s the first place these tend to rust out, and based on the surface rust in the passenger foot well I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s rusted out.
This thing looks pretty rough, for comparison I sold mine, with a patched battery tray and floor pan, running, driving, complete interior, working heat, working brakes, for $1200. I think 700 is too high for this one, but if they drop down to about $400-$500 I’d say it’s an ok deal.

It definitely looks like a Roadkill style 500 car. I’m betting it’s be about as reliable too.

I actually had a deal on a 944 that needed a clutch. The guy wanted $1500 and I offered up my 200X in trade. He accepted but then flaked for a week and a half. I’d rather have a 944 honestly.

IMO, the only thing that matters, is having fun with it. The snowcross was the first time I haven’t been dead last among those who finished, but you still couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face.
I can’t imagine in being a paragon of reliability, but that’s half the fun! And you never know, the amount of pounding the RallyMetro has taken without flinching has been downright impressive.
