Cool! I wonder if they’ll honor Craftsman’s lifetime warranty? I have an expensive torque wrench that broke within the first 6 months of ownership.

Damn. my employee discount is only going to be for another 6 months or so.

I am super surprised, since Lowes has put a ton into their kobalt tools. I can’t speak for the power tools, but I really like my wrench set.

But will Lowe’s replace that Craftsman socket I broke 5 years ago?

But will they have the good sales prices I can get at Sears, should Sears still exist?

They’ll probably give you a brand-new chinesium one.

I think the OG was made of the same material.

This probably puts another nail in the coffin for Sears, not that they need anymore...

Yay! My local craftsman store went out of business over a year ago. I only broken one wrench and some of my sockets are scratched to hell, but still strong. I primarily use Craftsman, Stanley and gear wrench which makes craftsman tools.

So what happens to “Kobalt” tools? The new craftsman stuff is junk.

I hope they keep the Kobalt line around. I’ve been much more impressed by my Kobalt stuff, than by modern Craftsman stuff.

Is there a better example of brand erosion than Craftsman? Does anybody still think they make top quality products?

Personally I’ve been liking Stanley for hand tools. The quality to price ratio seems about right.

Stanley owns the Craftsman brand.

Which raised the question of will they sell both brands?

I don’t know about lowes, but stanley said they would honor the warranty as annual costs were less than the loss of goodwill.

I can’t imagine they will, we don’t have the shelf space. unless they give dewalt the boot.

This has to become their new bargain basement line of tools. Kobalt and Home Depot’s husky are leaps and bounds ahead in quality and price compared to current craftsman stuff. Every time I buy/use new craftsman tools I am disappointed.

I have a fairly expensive craftsman torque wrench that felt like it was ready to break right out of the box. I am not happy with its quality in the least. My old harbor freight torque wrench feels way better. I need to buy better tools...
