If GM is investing in a new DOHC v8, think we’ll see one back in the Cadillac? I hope so.

We had better. Cadillac should have a v8 in their flagship car

I think Johan de Nychssen said previously that the 4.2 TT was a cadillac engine.

Remember the Elmiraj concept? It had a 4.2TT V8 making 500/500 hp/lb-ft.
So did the Escala. GM is definitely planning a TTV8 Cadillac.

But fact remains that neither have production plans for the whole car...

They aren’t going to build those cars, but they are an indication of where GM wants to go with Cadillac. It’s plausible that a 4.x TT V8 making 500+ hp could be coming in a future car.
I also really want this to happen.

Hasn’t GM been saying the CT6 is supposed to get a V8 at some point? I think I had originally heard 2018, but then it didn’t happen.

Well I just want them to take that liftback body of the Escala, shrink it and make it the next ATS, complete with RWD and a manual. I’ll trade my 328i for it.

The CT6 NEEDS a V8.

No question. Frankly, they should be a bit embarrassed that they let it on the market without one. That, and the lack of a LWB option are the only two real failings I can think of with it vs the competition.

The CT6 is pretty damn roomy in the back seat as is, though not as big as the LWB cars you’re referring to.

Even if its only the 460hp LT1 for a few years, it would have still sat nicely at the top of the range.

I absolutely do think it will be in Cadillacs. GM wouldn’t develop an entire new engine family just for the Corvette.

I hope not. I mean the Northstar was born out of the DOHC 350 program for the C4 ZR1, not directly but it was the catalyst for it. so i kind of feel like there’s history to show that it only makes sense for this to lead to Cadillac getting a DOHC v8 again.

I believe so but they have been quite on that front for a while.

I think it’s moves like that they need to avoid. Cadillac needs to be focused on only premium engines.

There would be no business case for developing an entire new family of engines just to sell a few thousand Corvettes. They’ve repeatedly said that the reason the LS family of V8's isn’t in any Cadillacs, is because they aren’t refined enough. A new DOHC twin turbo V8 for Corvettes AND Cadillac, that’s a business case that makes sense.

I disagree, it works for the most part in the CTS.
I also live in Detroit where dumb V8s are king. I also see quite a fair amount of fully loaded 3.0TT CT6s. I gotta imagine half of them would have paid $5k more for a V8 just because.
