EFR 6258. Small, very efficient. Scary fast spool up. Internal wastegate. Engine needs to be rebuilt and cooling system needs to be upgraded before I even think of installing... But it’s finally happening. 250hp Super Miata is one step closer

How are the ZII*s as daily drivers? I’m considering a set for daily and autocross on my Mini.

Best I’ve used. They last quite a while for a 200tw tire, they stay grippy right up until you’re at metal bars, and they have a very easy breakaway point to learn. Fantastic dry grip, just a hair behind RE71R’s. Even better wet grip.

Only issue I’ve had is they get very loud as they wear down. New Ziii’s should be coming soon, but they’re gunning for the RE71R’s, so they might be worse as a daily...

I was looking at the RE71rs which are $14 less than the ZIIs in my size but the ZIIs seem like they would be 99% as quick at an autocross while being a much better daily tire which I might be able to get through more than one season on them.

I went from RE71R’s to ZII as daily drivers. Yep, it’s exactly what you say. The wet and low temp performance is what really won me over, the extended tire life was an unexpected plus

A conservative tune with this setup should net me 260whp and a 0-60 in the low 4 second range. In a Miata. I’m freaking out

Borg-Warner wins coolest sounding company name by far.

Hell yes!

I was looking at turbos and superchargers for the ND the other day for a future project... Looking forward to the day that the early ones get cheap!

Awesome. Meanwhile my NA sounds like a total hooptie right now because ifs developed an exhaust leak somewhere around the cat. And the hood makes this really annoying rattle while the car isn’t moving, so I assume I need to replace the latch or something. Your paint appears to be in better shape than mine.

Stock 1.8 exhaust that terminates right after the cat sounds godly... Just putting it out there! Yeah the paint is great at ten feet, it really cleans up well. There are a ton of minor dents and scrapes though.

I feel your pain on the hood. One of my headlights rattles and I need to take the housing apart to tighten one specific bolt. Then realign the headlights to the hood.

I’m so happy to see all the developement companies have been putting into the ND aftermarket. A lot of the big Miata-specific vendors skipped the NC generation entirely... I was afraid they might do that for the ND but that hasn’t been the case!

Agreed. Everytime I see the word, I smile

Yeah, it’s great to see.

They sold a ton of NCs the first few years! And quite a few ‘15s to those who preferred the old body style, it looks like.

Kinja'd!!!

BW turbos are soooo good. EFR ones are just plain insanity on top. I love mine, hilariously fast.

I’m guessing you’re running a 6758..?

I am so excited, but a bit worried. Turbo and all the parts I need to make this a reliable daily (the “kit” needs a lot of odds and ends, like an intercooler setup and ECU) is still well beyond my mechanical abilities... And don’t get me started on tuning! Still, I know it will be worthwhile! How’s the Z running? I saw you finally got some headlight covers!

I’ve got the budget friendly S257SX-E with a custom hotside from AGP.

I just need to get more time on the Z. Cold weather makes it not so fun to drive and solo tuning is fairly boring.

Let me know if you need assistance. A couple friends and I have an intercooler pipe pool, I’ve got a couple low buck bead rollers and basically a limitless supply of couplers. Brackets are easy peasy. If you need wiring, I also do that on the side :D.

Well if you want to help, I DO have a modest sound system that I’ve been putting off installing for... Uhm. Six months now? :D

I’ll definitely be looking for assistance with the intercooler once I get a few more parts and a bit more knowledge! Still a ways off. I’m planning to get a better radiator and do a coolant reroute in the next few months, then headgasket/water pump/belts. Dedicated winter wheels/tires might come before serious turbo prep as well. So many other odds and ends....

I hear ya on the cold weather. I would imagine you have to be pretty careful in the rain. The joys of small, modified older cars!

If you have a place to install it then I’d be down, haven’t done a stereo, but can’t be harder then an entire chassis harness. I’ll give you the friend discount!

Yea get ready for all sorts of twitchiness in the rain, especially with boost and if you have it set to ramp up real hard. It would probably be a good idea to set the boost for progressive, but that isn’t as much fun.

Are you trying to get the trackspeed “kit”?

Kinja'd!!! "AestheticsInMotion" (aestheticsinmotion)
12/01/2017 at 20:08, STARS: 0

Yeah, that’s the one! I had a one-time discount which brought Savington’s TSE kit down into “ebay special” territory, so it was a no-brainer.

One of these days I would love to hear more about your current setup. I would imagine it would take quite a lot of tire to keep traction in weather like this! With any luck we’ll be able to do another cruise once things dry out in the spring.

Finding a place is the tricky part. I’ll ask around. I’m not sure how long the install would take for something like this. Some of the work is done and the rest shouldn’t be too tricky.... But it’s certainly not plug and play.

Always down to talk cars. Another cruise would definitely be fun, one of my top 3 memories of the summer!

If you have the diagrams and the plugs it shouldn’t be too hard honestly. Wish I had space to offer myself, but alas.
