I went to pay off my car the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, at first it went well and I got emails saying it was successful. Yesterday I got an email saying the payment failed because they couldn’t located my bank account. I got on the phone with a customer service rep and was first told to delete that bank account, re add it, pay off the exact same amount again, and I’d be done. So I do just that and when I go to re add my bank account I find out it’s blocked due to a reversed payment...

Back on the phone I go and I basically get told the same thing, but I interrupted saying my account that couldn’t be found is now blocked by them. The customer service rep says to use a different account and pay off the exact same amount and it’ll be all gold from there and my car will be paid.

Today I see the payment went through but I still somehow owe money on the account. I’m currently 20 minutes into a phone conversation with another customer service rep...

I once decided to call them to ask them if it’s possible to make a payment strictly to principle, the short answer is “no”, the long answer was something neither I nor the person explaining it seemed to understand. It’s ridiculous how hard they make it, to make extra payments. I hope you get it all straightened out!

We started sending our Bank of America mortgage payments bi-weekly to coincide with my paychecks. Two months later, we were hit with late and non-payment fees. For some reason, t heir online payment system doesn’t know what to do with the “extra” payment, so it gets put into a holding account and doesn’t get applied to the mortgage even though we are making payments specifically to our mortgage. Then the payment that arrives in the normal payment window is deemed insufficient since it is half of the normal payment.

The only way to get around this is to either send in physical checks or pay in person at the local branch - a difficult proposition since there are no physical branches in Louisiana.

I wish my mortgage had never been sold to BoA.

It mystifies me that in 2017 that these thinks don’t JUST WORK. I can only assume their motivation to make it complex and shitty is because it leads to them collecting more interest and missed payment fees...

Yes, it does. Just like their former policy of processing withdrawals before deposits. I closed my BoA account after they hit me with $200 in overdraft/insufficient fund fees which were then parlayed into another $200 in bounced check fees from various retailers. I was in college and didn’t have the funds to cover ANY additional fees. To their credit, they refunded most of the fees and then most of the businesses I had written checks to were kind enough to re-run the checks instead of asking for a different form of payment and hitting me with their fees.

Being poor sucks.

I lease my ram through them. Haven’t had to deal with any cotomer sevis yet, but they gladly e-mail me when they auto-withdraw my payments from my bank, as I have it set up.

Yes, especially when banks prey on that fact. Design a system that fines rich people please.

30 minutes later, I gave up as I wanted to scream. I will never finance through them again

agreed. It’ll be my local credit union from now on, if I can help it.

I like you am close to paying my car off, hopefully it works out...

yeah I’m going to a credit union next time. My bank is VERY strict with car loans, State Farm is as well...and now Ally has annoyed me.

When I payed off my last car I overpayed and got a check for $.06. I laughed and forgot about it. A month later they sent me a letter saying they were voiding the first check and issuing me a new one for ,06. I still have it somewhere
