Kinja'd!!!

Why the fucking Jesus would you not sell the TourX in Canada? Do you hate money? Do you hate Canada? Do you hate Canadian money? I’ve got absolutely no logical explanation as to why this car would not sell well in Canada. Hey Buick, fuck off.

Kinja'd!!!

In other news though, we’re getting the next Accent as a hatch as well as a sedan unlike in the States where they’re only getting the sedan, so there’s that. It’ll probably look a lot like the rather handsome Verna hatch that was introduced recently for the Chinese market. Quite a handsome little car.

I can sort of see why it would be worthless to Buick.

Canadians Honda Ridgelines have cooled seats bur US Ridgelines don’t. I just don’t understand.

Because they’d only sell a thousand so why bother?

Found 2016 Canada numbers:

Buick sales increased by 14.8% to 19,053 units, led by the Verano (7,244 units, up 13.9%), Encore (5,533 units, up 12.6%), and Enclave (3,632 units, up 8.1%).

Want more? Buy more.

My guess would be that Subaru dominates that market with the Outback.

If they build a time machine and don’t use it to travel to the past to make themselves not suck, then they deserve every possible criticism.

Wagons don’t work, especially when there’s the cheaper Encore, the five-row Envision SUV, and the bigger, three-row, and all-new Enclave already here. Look at Toyota and the Venza. It did okay when it started out in 2009, but by the mid-2010's, it was lagging behind in sales, especially compared to the similarly priced, larger, and better-equipped Highlander. That’s why there was only one Venza. This is the same story for the Honda Crosstour, the Acura TSX Wagon, and more. The same passenger volume coupled with the low ride height of sedans make wagons a no-go for many, my parents included. I don’t know how Subaru does it with the Outback, especially when you can get a better equipped Forester for the same or less. Buick is honestly pulling a huge risk here; it might become a cool odd car like other wagon variants of sedans have, but I don’t see it sticking around long here in America.

At least so far, Canuckistan is getting the C wagon while it isn’t yet slated for Murka, so there’s that.

This infuriates me to no end. The new Accent hatchback is pretty nice, unlike some of Hyundai’s other offerings - aaaand then they pull it because Kona.

Smaller market segments account for a larger percentage of sales in Canada versus the U.S. - we have higher gasoline prices, historically we’ve had less per-capita wealth, and we’re more financially conservative (the Civic has been Canada’s bestselling car for some 20 years).

The United States is all hopped up on the SUV and CUV craze. The CUVs are all ugly, save for a few. I don’t understand why I’m okay with the HR-V, the pre-facelift Encore, or the older boxy Escapes. Maybe because they actually look good, in my eyes.
