...add another shelf into this assembly without the little plastic thingies that hold the shelf? I have the extra shelf and just want to mount it with about a four inch gap to hold the network equipment (or the HDMI stuff and media streamers. I don’t know where the missing parts went, so I need to figure out an alternate way to support the extra shelf. Any ideas?

Wrap duct tape around the post until it fills the gap the plastic would and then drop the shelf on that?

Put a zip tie around the pole. This will not be very strong but it might work. Hose clamps would be better

Hardware store sells 2.5-3” self tapping screws. I’d pick a height, put one on each corner, then shelf rests on screws.
Or 2x4 wood at each corner Sam height, but bottom shelf holds weight of current & new shelf.
Or combination, get the right height, put a screw through shelf and columns.

Pull one of the other plastic clips. Measure the thickness of it at the raised portion. That gives you the diameter then wire size for a circle to lock another shelf. Size it by wrapping in the grove on the pole.

I’d use a zip tie to hold the shelf where you want it, but only long enough to then drill and put a screw through the shelf sleeve into the vertical post. It wouldn’t have to go all the way through the other side of the vertical post, unless you’re putting some really heavy stuff on there. If you wanted to get really fancy you could go all the way through and bolt it. Even a little 10-24 bolt would hold it fine in that case.

Drill a hole in each support (ideally at the same elevation) and use pins to support the final shelf
