I have only talked about to it a few people on here, but there’s a fairly good reason for that... I will go check out a Lancia Delta Integrale this week-end!
The car has been in storage for 3 years and used to be the daily driver of the current owner before that. The car was given (yes, given) to him a few years prior and he mostly used to do round trips between Shizuoka and Tokyo. It currently has less than 70000km on the clock and is completely rust free.
The car is not perfect as AC was removed and front seats aren’t original, but without going into much details, let’s just say that I would be getting the deal of the century for it and I simply can’t pass on such an opportunity.
Sadly I’m only allowed one car for my wife to hate, so the RX-7 would have to go...
Here are a few pics of the car before it went into storage...
It currently makes noticeably more than 200hp... (185hp stock for the 8V)
So, what do you guys think? Am I stupid for getting rid of a perfectly stupid daily driver for another perfectly stupid daily driver? I can’t pass on that deal, but selling the RX-7 kind of tores me apart :)

Delta Integrale = awesome and if you could get one for a great deal, that would be a dream!
...however, isn’t even basic maintenance on the Integrale quite involved and a lot more costly compared to the RX7....?

The 8V is known to be a lot more reliable than the 16V and more adapted to daily chores... The main maintenance all my so-called unreliable cars needed in their lives, was to be driven and not parked for weeks on end before being taken out for a couple hours on a sunday :)
I currently manage to do about 300km with a 70$ tank of gas in the RX-7... Anything will be cheaper as a daily than this one haha

I’ll be sad to see the white and blue Mazda stop gracing the pages of Oppo, but seeing an Integrale on a fairly regular basis with my love of Italian rides.....well, I can’t really say I would be complaining! :P
Although....would driving LHD in a RHD world get to you? :P

The Lane has a HF in grey and it’s one of my favorite cars in the collection. I may be able to drive it in the spring but they say it doesn’t like being driven slow. It will not drive as well unless it is being hammered.

The RX-7 would be sold at auction for a quick switch... Hopefully I find a good home, but I won’t know that... People buying those kind of cars here tend to be rather meticulous though...

I get that this choice tears you apart, as one is a very unique car, and the other is also unique, and a good deal.
It all depends on what you think is going to bring you most joy. Continuing to driving the RX7, but know deep down that you passed on an opportunity, or selling the RX7 and drive the Delta? (maybe be a better day to day car even)
I’m glad I’m not in your position, because I also wouldn’t be able to make a choice...

Highly doubtful... first gen turbo RX-7 are quite expensive here and they have a good following. Nice first gen RX-7 in general are all over 10k$ here and attract a very specific crowd with grey hair :)

Man, this is tough. Your RX7 is awesome and then some, but so is a Delta Integrale... and I can’t afford your RX7.
I don’t know what to tell you - I think it’s something you’re just going to have to decide on and commit to. In the mean time, I’ll pick up a lottery ticket.

It’s even more practical. Really it depends on exactly how amazing of a deal. Both are gorgeous cars though so I dont see too wrong of a choice either way

Clio V6 are super smooth... even R5 Turbo 2 are smooth at slow speeds... no reason for the Spider to be any different. :)

I’ve heard good thing about the lanes Renault 5 Turbo 2 but the Clio V6 I’ve heard is quite squirmy and gt don’t let it go out often, especially in the wet.

Dispassionately, it’s about how dialed in the RX7 is. If you don’t have much more than double what you can get for it in it, then you can relive it if 10 years from now you keep wishing you had never gotten rid of it. You don’t stand to lose if you pay 1/3 of a good price for the Lancia. And ‘they’ always say people regret the things they didn’t do, not the things they did.
How badass is the RX7? Would you mourn?

Make it 1/10th of the actual price the Lancia is worth... As for the RX-7 it’s my DD... it has no problem other than a dead AC... yes it’s pretty badass and I will dearly miss it for sure. In total it cost me about 500$ in maintenance over 2 years. And gas... lots of gas lol. It’s been a beast all this time.

Money spent into it to get it going again should be fairly minimal... the car has sat for a while but it was in covered garage in a tempered place... it will need some work, but not that much. Then it’s all about driving the damn thing. Cars that are driven don’t need crazy maintenance, just regular stuff.

No I would not... Turbo SA22C are too rare, let alone Turbo SA22C tuned by RE-Amemiya. Problem being that by selling it, I should get around 10k$ in spite of buying it 6k$ and I know I’ll never buy another Delta at the current market prices... These are worth 20-25k$ and I would buy that one for, well, about 10 times less ;)
I will end up missing the SA22C for sure... main question being: will I be fine with that??
