After 12 months, 73 applications, and 16 interviews, I’m moving to a new job.
Not just that, but after a borderline miserable 3 years & 3 months, 260 applications, countless interviews and four “I’ll just work this until...” jobs, I’ll finally have a career that I don’t just go to, but will look forward to as it aligns almost entirely with my passions,interests, and background and I really and truly can’t wait to get started.
To say that I’m happy, relieved, satisfied, and optimistic is an understatement. I’m so stoked.

Now I feel kind of like a dick for getting a new job that I didn’t even go looking for, and having *an* interview. After working at kind of an interim position for five years which never made me mad enough to bug out.
I mean, it’s not the amazing technicolor dream job, but I worked zero to get it.

Sometimes it happens. I’d like to think that I just had bad timing with my skillset and the industry’s openings/needs. I’ve got a bit of a niche interest and background.

I was miserable at my job for a long time and I’ve also been through a ton of applications 3 interviews and even 2 offers. Just ones that weren’t good enough to leave. Then I made some changes in my life and now I’m not so miserable at work. I’m still looking, just happily now.

Congrats! That’s great to hear.
Are you staying local or relocating? I’m not passionate about my job, but I like it well enough, and the flexibility the work arrangements have. 21 years in the industry, and the last 10 have been at my current place of employment.
