Two trips in two days, so far I’ve found a lot of what I need. Some other stuff is marginal, so I didn’t get it yet.... And why do people destroy decent parts?
My friends 17yo daughter has a 2004 Sonata with a cloth interior. Her boyfriend put a car battery on the back seat, which managed to leak acid all over the seat, the cloth is fucked. Lucky I found a 2004 Optima with leather. Nice leather, good condition. Except someone tatted them up with a sharpie. Oh, and I confirmed that the Optima and Sonata are structurally identical, and the seats are a bolt-in swap.
My take: xj rear bumper and bumperetts, zj V8 sway bar and drag link, and a xj rear carpet kit.
Still need from a yard: Tiburon front seats, WJ rear seats.

Tell the yard to cut you a deal on the seats, then try to clean off the sharpie. If it’s a no-go, just spray them with dye.

Hit it with Magic Eraser and then treat the leather immediately. It will probably get the marker but also take any protectant with it. If that doesn’t work, you might have to find a redye kit or live with cloth headrests with leather seats.

My other junkyard pet peeve is people who just leave doors, windows, hoods, and trunks open, letting rain inside.
Granted, in some of these cases there’s collision damage that makes them a pain to open in the first place, but still. If you’re not going to latch it, at least close it most of the way, so that stuff doesn’t get ruined so easily!

One time I was at a yard pulling a steering wheel from a Lexus LS400 for my former Land Cruiser, and I couldn’t get the clip to the airbag off. My wife was waiting out in the car with our one year old who was sleeping...he woke up about when I got the bag off there and started crying. So my wife calls me and in desperation to get the steering wheel and get out, I cut the wires to the airbag and tossed it on the passenger seat. I still feel bad about it...somebody needs an airbag for an LS400 and they’re overjoyed to find that one and realize some asshole (me) cut the wires. Since then I’ve always tried to leave as much intact as I can.

I have a kid and thus know rubbing alcohol takes sharpie off without a lot of effort. Still get them to cut you a deal though, if they don’t know that it’s not your problem.

Because people suck. When I had my 924 I had to replace the door cards because some dingus (not me) decided to put 6x9 holes in them. I knew there was a 924 in the pull it yard, with decent door cards that were brown instead of the black I needed. Not a big deal, but I didn’t grab them right away. I went back no more than a week after to find one of the door cards ripped to shreds because someone wanted the door handle. All that holds that damn door card in is about half a dozen screws, but apparently that was too much work so they decided to destroy a perfectly usable part. Fuck people, and fuck that person in particular.
