All the waiting. I started setting up my new Xbox One S over an hour ago. The OS updates took about 15 minutes, then currently it’s loading up Forza7. It’s been 10 minutes now...
As I was typing that it told me Forza was ready to play. I miss the good old days when at least the only loading screens were in game.

What even does installing the game to your console do if not speed up loading times?
It doesn’t help that modern blockbusters are pushing 60+GB. Ten years ago a “big” game took up 6GB installed. Read/write times are gonna suffer when you increase the assets you have to load tenfold.

The worst part is I’m still having to load the track for every race. I mean I know that won’t always be the case, but shouldn’t those have been loaded from the get go?

I made the mistake of buying an Xbox one thinking it would be like a better 360. Little did I know that it needed Internet for everything, aaaand my phones the only internet that i have access to. So its Basically a $200 paperweight

Bought the latest forza, project cars, and dirt this weekend and spent all evening last night swapping disks and sitting on my hands.
Been tempted to go through and see how much of the older games you can play in the time it takes to start playing the newest ones including character creation and flowery cutscenes

It does speed up loading times. The internal hard drive is way faster than loading from the disk drive. The games also don’t fit on a disk any more.

You still have to load stuff when it is installed. You are just loading it from the internal hard drive instead of off the disk. The hard drive is way faster than the disk drive and the games don’t fit on a disk anyway.

Forza 7 has loaded updates four consecutive times over the last two weeks. One of them was 4.8GB. I haven’t had much time to play, and the updates don’t help (admittedly I missed up and hit OK, and didn’t skip the update).
Also, it’s slow as shit...when I switch cars it takes almost a second to change the graphic. Sometimes it shows me completely different cars....and this is on a 2TB S version that’s maybe 20% full.
I’m not really digging 7 anyway, will likely go back to 6.

If you don’t go all the way back to the menus you don’t have to. Otherwise it pulls the track and AI cars out of memory so it can load the menu.

I had a similar problem where my car suddenly had different colors. And a few times it has decided not to put graphics on the opponent cars

PROTIP: If you have the disc, disconnect your Xbox from the internet before slipping it in to install. You’ll still need to download updates but, instead of downloading the whole damn game, it’ll install all disc assets leaving you almost functional in much less time. Once installed, reconnect and launch for updates.

100% agreed on most of the non-racing parts having downright awful performance. I’ve shifted to playing this game almost exclusively on a recent-ish gaming PC simply because menu responsiveness and track load times are *at least* 4x faster.

I don’t play online. I quite often leave the console offline to avoid this crap. Especially games I only play every few weeks.
