Part of me wants to go ahead and grab a manual LS2 Chevy SSR while they are under $30,000. I know it sounds crazy (and fitting with me) but I think this spec will be going for $40,000 at the bottom end within the next 5 years. Maybe more if they end up appearing in some movie/Netflix series or as a Doug car. Either way, if I could grab one for under $26,000 I don’t think I’d lose any money.
A 29 year old man driving an SSR seems like a pretty unique picture. But who better than me to model it? I am that guy!! Plus, a RWD hardtop convertible ute with a supercharged LS2 and Tremec 6MT that could likely leave me a few grand richer would be...nasty.
Pretty sure there’s a TORSEN diff too. I need to look into this more.

Random thing, I want a convertible because I have always wanted to wear the old aviator gear while driving.

Low mileage examples will command a premium, so you wouldn’t be able to drive it much. As for appreciation, I gave up trying to guess long ago.

Well the market seems to be bottoming out. Id only drive on the weekends and for fun so that would barely be 2,000 to 3,000 miles a year.

if it were me I wouldn’t bet on SSRs holding their value, much less appreciating, but I guess stranger shit has happened in this world.

Yeah I’ll take my convertible pickups to be of the Dodge Dakota variety.

They aren’t 400hp LS2s.... They are detuned from the factory. They have a different cam than the rest of the LS2s. A cam swap, LS3 heads, and a LSA blower on top. ;)

I think these were still at 390 hp and I know the final year manuals were 400 hp.

Get a Vette. The SSR has lots of unique parts that already are being discontinued. I had a customer who looked for an OE wheel before having to get an entire set of aftermarket ones because he couldn’t even find a used wheel to match his. If you do get an SSR you need to get a second one as a parts car. One important interior piece the heating and a/c control being discontinued has pissed off more that one person who has called me for a price.
