Kinja'd!!!

These are all relatively similar SUV/MPV things from Ford. They are all from about 2005 and incredibly similar and different at the same time.

First we have the Ford Fusion - no, not that one. - This one:

Kinja'd!!!

A “Urban Activity Vehicle” from Ford UK that stayed in production for 10 years. It is FWD only and can be mated to a variety of engines, we’ll pick the most powerful one, a 1.6 4 cylinder making 120HP.

Kinja'd!!!

This is the interior, it shares a lot of that with the next contender.

Kinja'd!!!

Now, for the next car we have the Fusion’s South American cousin, the Ford Ecosport , a car that has become one of Ford’s Global vehicles but had a humble beginning.

Kinja'd!!!

The Eco Sport could be had with 4WD and came with a 147HP 2.0 I4 (that could also be flex-fuel), it shares many of it’s styling cues with the Fusion but behaves like an actual SUV, with beefier suspension and higher ride heigh.

Kinja'd!!!

The interior is equally shit but with shittier plastics.

Kinja'd!!!

And finally the fat version of a light SUV, the Ford Escape . Designed neither for Offroad or Urban use, the ironically named Escape was designed for those trapped to suburban life. Sure it had the beefy tires and 4WD and all that, but no one really bought one of these expecting to take it offroad, they bought one because they couldn’t afford a Ford Explorer and the other soccer moms wouldn’t accept them if they didn’t have an SUV.

Kinja'd!!!

The Escape could be had with the same 2.0 Zetec in the Ecosport, a 2.3 Duratec and a 3.0 Duratec V6 making 200HP, it must be mentioned that the 2.0 could also be mated to a Hybrid System, but never mind that.

Kinja'd!!!

The interior is also shit but in a less shit American way.

Kinja'd!!!

ALL CARS ARE FROM 2005, OTHER MY DO NOT APPLY.

Daily: Escape, my friend had one of these with the Duratec and I enjoyed driving it entirely too much.

Rally: EcoSport, at least it’s 4WD and has the bigger motor over the Fusion.

Burn: Fusion, since it’s the most un-SUV.

DD the Escape and I don’t think I’d mind too much.

Track the Ecosport cause those things can actually haul ass (all things considered). Pretty sure they’re quicker than a Mégane II 2.0 16v or Mazda3 2.0 of the same era. Have witnessed them consuming windy roads at a shocking pace first-hand.

Burn the Fusion ¯\_()_/¯

DD: Fusion. It’s the least SUV-like, the most honest of the bunch (a car for older people without fake ‘tough’ optics) and probably has the least shitty interior.

Track: Escape. I assume it’ll be an offroad track, and this will be the least incapable of dealing with those situations.

Burn: EcoSport. Or better yet, burn all three.

We actually have an 05 Escape and apart from a driving position that is terrible for a tall person on long stretches I actually really like it. The auto trans is typical Ford of the day, 4 speed, holds a high gear really long, then drops down two gears at once, but in general it drives nice and gets good mileage if you keep the speeds around 65-70. I’ve seriously thought about finding a manual one for DD and soft roading use.

On to the question.

DD the Escape

Rally the Eco Sport
