Kinja'd!!!

I was let on to the future solution to my lack of friends/no pets problem! Leopard Gecko!

It’s so genius, I wish I’d been told about them sooner. I’m my mum and I are allergic to cats and dogs. They come in different colors (“morphs”), they’re friendly and smart, they can be played with, and they can live well past 10 years! It’s a cat in reptile form.

Kinja'd!!!

And the best part is I’ll have someone who will be happy to see me when I come home other than my parents! This might even be better than the relationships I imagine in my head!

Broken Porsche’s, loving parents, and an awesome reptile friend, it’s a win-win-win!

make sure you read up on proper care for them... coworker has a lizard for a pet and she says it’s a lot of upkeep and finicky stuff to maintain but she says it’s worth it

Congrats! There’s nothing like a pet’s affection. Makes you feel like you’re worshipped by someone

Have you thought about a potbelly pig? If it acts up, you can just eat a ham sandwich while staring coldly directly at the porker. If it REALLY acts up, you invite your friends Timmy and Suzie over for some deep pit.

Leopard Geckos is like having a pet rock, except it moves sometimes. They are like tiny alligators, they move slowly and can’t climb up walls, easier to keep then a Betta Fish in a bowl.

My Leopard Gecko is over 20 years old, I feed him once every two weeks, use to be once a week until he got old and his metabolism slowed down, he gets fat otherwise.

They are a great pet, get a male and he should live over 20 years with care.

Funny thing is, my Brother bought him 20 years ago because of a Chevy Blazer commercial he saw, where they had a Leopard Gecko in the desert licking it’s eye. He had to get one.

Living the dream. The only downsides of owning a lizard is that you become known as that guy who has a lizard. Reminds me of this great post on somethingawful:

Should you buy a pet snake? Are you sick of eating mice alone?

A few of these actually apply to me.

My son caught a regular gecko several months ago. I should let it go. It was fun for him when he could catch crickets and other bugs in the yard to feed it. Now that winter is approaching, I’m having to go buy some every few days. Feels weird to be the only one in line at petsmart holding a bag of crickets. They don’t stay alive very long, so it’s not like I can buy a months worth at a time.

I have reptiles as pets and buy my crickets online at lll reptile.

Usually you don’t want to feed them wild crickets that’s how the reptiles get sick and filled with parasites.

I have 4 of these exact lizards, they are like keeping fish but easier since you don’t have water. I buy my crickets online and get them shipped to the house, feed the lizards, clean their water, and clean the tank once a week and that’s it. Easy.

IDK about these people saying they are hard, it’s way easier than having a dog and nothing is fucking my shit up it’s all contained in the lizard cage.

Oh crap, I did not know that. I just found out about dusting the crickets with a Vitamin mix too.

I wonder how hard it is to have your own cricket farm.

I tried the cricket farm thing and it was more difficult than just keeping the lizards themselves lmfao. Usually people breed the dubia roaches if they do that because they don’t get everywhere and don’t smell bad. One thing is I just order my crickets online and get it shipped to my house, it’s very easy.
