Kinja'd!!!

Two very different ways of handling sudden downpours. Both enjoyable. We swapped cars for a few minutes and hooned on top of an empty parking garage. And now I want an STi. He’s looking at Miatas on Craigslist.

Was this a stranger? Not sure I can imagine giving my car to someone for even a few minutes of hoonage

I always find this really interesting.

There’s people that will give you their   car and even tell you to enjoy the offroad ability or the speed or whatever. And let you have it for a week or a roadtrip or whatever.

And then there’s peolpe that get uncomfortable when you just look at their keys.

But I don’t know any way to tell who’s who.. rich/poor, nice car/ beater, old/young.. I don’t get the correlation.

That’s how you know you both have great cars!

I don’t know either, I just know the thought of someone driving my car fills me with fear. I have lent my cars out before -but to people I know and mostly trust -and nothing has ever happened, and yet I still have that odd feeling of unease.

I can’t say why it is. I’m happy to share most things, neither rich nor poor, have six cars in various states of disrepair, and I’m 31. Make of it what you will!

This. I’m 19. My family visited two other families over the summer. One had a 2005 5-Series manual. Dude wouldn’t even let me drive it with him in the car. The second had a brand-spanking new X6 M-Sport. She handed me they keys after dinner and said “If you head west you’ll get to the fun mountain roads! I don’t need the car tonight so just have it back by the morning. Enjoy!”

Haha welcome to my world =)

Very good combo so far in my opinion. I am not really sure which is my “daily driver” though lol. The subaru gets 18-20mpg but it abuses me a lot less and actually has paint on it. But I also have to actually care when I park the Subaru someplace sketchy because its actually worth something.

It’s too bad the other bride didn’t work for your girlfriend, the mismatched seats bug me so much

Does the STi feel like a rocketship in comparison? How’s it in traffic? And lastly... How are the seats?

It is most certainly a rocketship! It’s surprising to me though that my Miata doesn’t instantly feel slow as hell though, even after driving both back to back. The way the power comes on is just so different that it’s of value to have both. The STi sure does just make me giggle going up a hill though, there’s just no comparison there. And today after trying out the new tires, it corners better than the Miata too. But it’s still different. It’s like it’s so precise and good at what it does that it loses some of the pure joy the Miata has. However, yes the seats are wonderful in my opinion. Not the same sort of bolstering as the bride but for street driving it’s plenty good enough while still being quite comfortable. I haven’t really sat in traffic since the day I bought the car, my commute is all canyon roads. “Traffic” for me is stuck going 45 instead of 70 until I can pass someone on a “straight enough” double yellow. Side note, I definitely wouldn’t pass people there in the Miata but the STi just teleports me into bad ideas..

Anyways, I do plan on getting another seat it just didn’t make sense to transport two seats to California and it was easier to sell the Bride rep since it could be used as a drivers seat. I still have the mount which is the more expensive part anyways. Maybe I’ll get a real seat once I recover from moving expenses and buying the Subaru.
