I don’t know how to feel about VV, they do shed light into some aspects of car culture that the mainstream doesn’t get, but at what reputation cost?

I don’t have a positive thought to share about him or his videos since meeting him a year ago. I’m glad he moved back to California and is out of Michigan. If I could block his channel and videos and recommendations on YT I would.

He’s burned just about every bridge in the car community here. He used to be a decent guy to be around when he wasn’t so bloated and famous I’ve been told by people who hung around him more than me. He’s not the only Youtuber I dislike but he’s the only one I can say I’ve met and can agree with the negative remarks.

Neither do I, and I have a small channel. Clearly they (Youtubers) know more about it than we do, some are making livings off that. It’s like an interwebs Hollywood of sorts.

You’re spot on in my mind honestly.
If I had the financial means to get all those cars and do what they do, you bet I’d have subscribers left and right. But I still fight with myself to remind myself that they’ve made and had it so easy they don’t have the same goals or dreams I have because they can throw money or write a check at it; I and the rest of the world have to work hard to get the financial security for it. When and if I reach my dreams it’ll be so much more rewarding. I don’t see their videos as inspiration, maybe when they were new, but now it’s blatant showing off a level of wealth you’d either have to be born into or come up with the next billion dollar idea to even smell.
That said, Huracans, GTRs, and any YT sterotypical supercar is off my dream list because they’ve ruined it to my mind.

Well I mean its not everyone, Salomondrin is self made and has a net worth of about 15m (just checked) He just really fucking loves cars!
CarThrottle is also a startup just gaining traction.
You don’t really need stupid amounts of money to make a dent in car culture, Doug DeMuro showed it, RCR showed it, and so does Jason Fenske all the time.
Perhaps you need dedication which would require you stay basically glued to Final Cut for hours on end and I can understand perfectly why you wouldn’t do so. Jason for instance (which, here in Mexico would be called “Ing. Fenske because we give them titles too!) probably made more money as an engineer than as a youtuber until he was really big!
Financially its probably better to stay in your current carrier path and just make posts for Oppo where everyone appreciates it, regardless of our incomes!

Engineering Explained is one of my favorite channels as an engineering major.
You’re right about stupid amounts of money not being required, it certainly makes things easier it appears, but I’m not in the position of knowing so it’s a moot point. I can certainly do great things with what I have now.
It’s definitely smarter to stay on my current path, I can only hope that I’m able to make something of myself and be successful and happy with my work and future one day.

he’s basically a douchey rich kid who started a YouTube channel about the expensive cars he was able to hang around thanks to his rich parents.
He’s basically the second most punchable face ever, just behind Justin Bieber. I clicked a link to one of his videos and I made it about 20 seconds before I wanted to strangle everyone in it.
