Kinja'd!!!

Put about 150 miles on the little Daihatsu now. It runs great, and drives great other than a vibration at speed. That’s likely down to the worn out CV joint that I’ll be replacing soon. Properly go kart like with the stiff suspension and only weighing 610kg.

I wont be driving it much more until I change the timing belt since I dont want to risk grenading the engine. It doesnt look old but I also have no idea when it was last changed. After that and an oil change I’ll replace the CV joint and enjoy it, while slowly fixing the few cosmetic issues. Overall though it’s in fantastic shape for 31 years old.

What size tires are on that thing that they make the Twingo’s look massive?

You should try to intimate those not familiar with these cars with offering its raw specifications. Like displacement, power, tire size, cylinder count, top speed, acceleration and length/width of the car.

Love that little guy! Does everything work on it? You can usually tell if it’s a CV joint for sure if you take some slow tight turns and hear a clicking/grinding....had to have one replaced on my Accent a year or two below and that was the easiest way to check without getting it up on a hoist!

Guessing it’s a little 3-cylinder?

I havent actually looked at how wide they are. The twingo wears 195/45r16 so they are largeish for the size of car, which makes the daihatsu look even smaller.

I’m planning to get a few more photos and do a little write up in the next week sometime.

Everything works yeah, though there isn’t much to break... The CV was picked up on the last MOT and the seller told me about it. You can hear it clicking pretty loudly.

850cc 3 cylinder with a mighty 44hp.

Holy balls (as my friend Dan would say :P)

44hp??? Make sure you don’t kill yourself out there! My 126 will make a widowmaking 24hp when I can finally get it, we should have a race :P

A quick google suggests possibly 145/80R12
The Twingo doesn’t seem super bloated other than the tyres difference, which is weird. I would have expected it to look much bigger next to it.

I think its a trick of the eye because the twingo is significantly wider, but about as tall.

Haha best drag race ever. Because of it’s lightness the Daihatsu is pretty nippy around town, it only shows it’s lack of power after 50mph.

Great combination of cars! Every Twingo needs a friend (Mine has been lonely for too long, I need to get a friend for it too)

I had expected the Twingo to be way bigger than the Domino, maybe it is the perspective though, as the Domino seems to be on slightly higher ground than the Twingo.

Its the weirdest thing, it doesnt look that small in pictures but its tiny in person. It doesnt have central locking but its so small I can lock and unlock every door from the drivers seat without stretching.

Haha I could do a quick video to capture some of it’s little quirks. I hate hearing my voice on video though so it’ll probably be a silent tour...

The trick is to make up a fake voice to sound all macho or TV persona-y. :P

Well Bjorn you’re in the perfect spot to get something weird and North American market and ship that to the Netherlands. Preferably over 25 years old to limit hassle or over 10-15 years old to minimize/reduce to zero the BPM import tax. Maybe ask Flavien about shipping.

I just had a quick look at kijiji (Canadian craigslist/marktplaats look alike) and I couldn’t really find anything of my taste (they don’t really do small and/ or quirky over here), or at least not within my budget . I like the idea though

Very true, but you were out of ideas ;) Anyway, those things are known to depreciate hard in North America but don’t depreciate much in Europe. So that’s where I saw a possibility.

610 kg! That makes the RallyMetro seem like a fatass :)

Kinja'd!!!

This little guy weighs like 200kg more.

It originally had 58 hp, but it has 267k miles on it and burns some oil, Sinai think a few of those horsies man have escaped.
