This 02 housing on my Talon is the devil. I knew it would be. What I didn’t know was this...
My power steering is intact. It needs to be removed. The back inside bolt is in the worst conceivable place. It’s a mess.
However, the easy bolt to get to got me. Wrench on. Second wrench on for leverage. Except, it broke loose sooner than expected.
My hand went flying across the radiator at about 900 miles and hour. It hurt. Bad.
Soon after, the 02 sensor wanted to be a devil. I used a 18” intercooler pipe on my ratchet to break that one loose. Upon it breaking loose, my left knuckle met the motor mount bolt. That one probably needs stitches. Superglue to the rescue!
It’s been an adventure.

We knew a couple in Germany — US Army — in the late 80s who had a Talon TSi, which would be an utterly forgettable factoid, except that the marriage between these two was epically, spectacularly, dysfunctional. Ron & Wendy Lauscher. They’d have these verbal brawls right out front of the company for all to see. Maybe they’d go home and have rousing sex afterward, but the fights were entertaining to watch. And the car was sort of like their child.

I’ve done the exact same thing with the Galant. The coolant return line on the front of the turbo is also a bitch

Next timei have to remove the turbo, I’m just gonna pull the dang radiator. Especially with the new thicker aluminum one Im putting in.

Power steering pump had to go. Was way in the way. It’ll be getting deleted.
Got the 02 housing off after much drama. Fuel pressure regulator and stuff is off too. Got a lot done today. Turbo is in good health.

Yeah the only other way to get that housing off would be to take the exhaust manifold and turbo off. Either way it’s a PITA.
